After reading through the thread and checking your site it seems the '09 guys like myself are SOL for this product...? I tried to understand why but didnt get all of it...

If I were to get an aftermarket camera that can be integrated to the 09 factory nav, there is still no way to use your relay seat heater switch for it?

Looks like a very cool item

Yes confusing isn't it.

There are two Nav systems and each has a different connector (40pin on the older and 32pin on the newer). 2009 370z has the older system and 2010 and later have the newer system.

I now have a source of the connectors for the older units, so I could technically create a bypass kit for the 2009 370z. The issue is that unlike the Murano there is no factory camera on the 2009 370z, so it is difficult to support the camera function because it is very dependent on the backup camera module that is used.

Actually the following GT-R kit would work on the 2009 370z
http://www.carkitcompany.com/nissan-...t-r-camera-kit

The 2009/10 Murano kit would also work but would only give you the two functions (as it does on the Murano)
http://www.carkitcompany.com/nissan-...ss-kit-2009-10

Finally, I could make a 2009 370z rear camera kit and switch based bypass for probably around $625. I haven't really pursued that option because I'm not sure how much demand there would be.

Hi I've been trying to get up to speed on this thread. I have an 09, so does the nav basically have the function built into it for displaying an external video source, even though it was never implemented by Nissan for the 09s? I've a feeling this has already been explained but I just haven't found where.

Further confusion is caused regarding the year of the cars. The US cars are labelled for the year ahead, so the current model in the US would be 2012 where elsewhere in the world (you are in the UK correct?) it would be 2011.

If you are in the UK and your car is a 2009, there is a good chance that is equivalent to the US 2010 and your Nav system does have the capability for a rear camera.

There is a way of testing which Nav system you have and whether the rear camera capability is there and it is covered under one of the FAQ questions on my website:
Backup Camera Kit - Car Kit Company

Now when you say "External video source" if you are referring to an Auxiliary video input for ipods etc then that is a completely different kettle of fish.

Thanks Brian for that info, I didn't know about the US cars being one year ahead. I'll checkout your link then and learn some more!

The text you quoted is regarding a Nav and DVD bypass kit which is separate to a backup camera! Also, both your posts seem to be pushing the same company, what is your relationship to that company?

But to answer you question. Yes, you do need a harness, those are just cameras.

With a US2010/11 you need a harness which gives you a way of plugging in a camera and getting the factory gridlines that move with the steering wheel. With a US2009/10 you need a video converter and harness and will not get the factory gridlines.

Regarding the cameras themselves, I like many others have used the Kenwood CMOS-200 cameras because it fits exceptionally well, is a very high quality camera and the viewing angles etc are well suited to the gridlines. Those other cameras will work (with a harness) but cant speak to the quality.

Demona ........... I'm calling you out on this one. I read both of your posts on this forum. Appears you are a vendor or have a financial gaining relationship with the vendor 12vcity.com. All reading any comments / posts here by Demona, should be aware that his posts should be scrutinized heavily / ignored. Again guys, beware of forum posts by Demona!

Default Voice control on a vert?

Hello Brian,

I just ordered the kit for the 2012 remote/roadster. While looking through the owners manual (does anyone else actually read these?), I see the voice controls are disabled when the top is down. I understand because of noise why this makes sense, but if stopped at a light, wind noise shouldn't be a problem. Is there a way to modify your kit to remove this restriction? Maybe it is already done, but appears no one has asked/talked about it.

Thanks!

Someone else did ask the same question and I did a little research and found the wires probably required are not within the same connector, so not currently possible to modify the existing kit.

If there was enough interest I could see what I could do. The problem is every connector seems to be different and sourcing in small quantities is always difficult and then of course the research required to come up with the required circuit which really requires access to a donor car.

If there is a roadster owner in the central NJ area then drop me a PM.

Create another account and post another random question with a link to the same company....

For everyone else, please beware of posts to this company from accounts with very few posts or look at all their other posts to see if there is a trend.

For the record I actually did purchase two items from said company and one camera was faulty (or they sent PAL or B&W in error) and the other worked but overpriced for what it is.

I'm a roadster owner that is interested in your full kit but was waiting until late May when I would be in the NJ area to perhaps get a hands on install help. If by then you had a way to use the voice feature without the top being up, I'd add that in as well. Thanks.

Well, having had the Car Kit Company, Plug and Play Bypass Kit (DVD, NAV and backup Camera) for almost 10 months now I want to report my Car Kit Company bypass kit is still considered by me to be the absolute best addition I have done on my vehicle. I can't even imagine having the pricey Nav system and not having the bypass kit to uncripple it. IF you have Nav and do not have this bypass kit you are really losing out to say the least. The bypass kit is easy, easy to install and well worth the $.

Thanks again, Brian, for offering this terrific kit!
