What I have seen myself is a blue screen or part of the video image when engaging reverse straight after starting the car, this is the same on the factory cars and is caused by the software still initializing. Once the software sorts itself out the image appears normally.
i am also experiencing this blue screen from time to time. The only way i've been able to get it to go away when it occurs is to turn the car off and back on. It has occurred when using the button, and it has also occurred simply by putting the car into reverse.

Osiris... I gather this issue is an intermittent issue you guys with the reverse camera kit installed are seeing? Would be nice for you to clarify here so readers do not think the issue is with the NAV "Plug and Play Bypass Kit" that this thread was solely addressing.

To my knowledge this issue is not, not being seen by those with factory NAV and the NAV "Plug and Play Bypass Kit" being offered by bdl99 that this thread originally was addressing. I for one have seen the NAV "Plug and Play Bypass Kit" being offered by bdl99 and it is exceptional/works great.

I never said it was related to the bypass kit. I was getting the blue screen prior to installing the bypass kit. What exactly is a "remote" camera kit?

Typo in my last post. I meant to say reverse camera not remote camera.
Anyway, just wanted it to be 100% clear the the Plug and play NAV Bypass Kit is not causing any issues. Rather one or two here with the add on non-factory reverse camera kit are experiencing an intermittent quirk that might very well not even be related to the non-factory reverse camera kit. By the way, just seeking clarification that's all.. Hope you find the cause of the quirk..

Now this is interesting. Previously the thought was a loose connection somewhere, but this sound different because a reboot (for what of a better word) appears to rectify. This reminds me of something else, where a couple of people entered some of the configuration details incorrectly (the most common being not entering the first number as a negative). The result was a strange software issues where the system would lock up and give a blue screen, or the camera would remain on the screen even when taken out of reverse. In those two cases, correcting the configuration numbers corrected the issues. So for anyone having this issue please check the settings and make sure you have entered everything correctly. This appears to be affecting a very small number of people, but it would be great to get to the bottom of this.

Things that are normal (meaning the same happens on the factory installed cameras) is that if the car is put in reverse soon after starting the car sometimes you get a blue screen or partial (normally 1/3rd of screen) appear. The issue is that the AV computer is still initializing and doing it's various check, loading music, Navigation etc and it doesn't multitask well. I've seen this on many makes an actually BMW is among the worst, on my wife's X5 you can put the car in reverse soon after starting and it can be several minutes before it decides to grace you will a image.

As others have also said (or asked for clarification), this is related to the camera and camera kits and not something that is caused (or even could be caused) by the bypass kit.

so, i should also add that in addition to the blue screen...sometimes the video will display very dark and have like interference on the screen. When it did this one time, i kept using the bypass button to turn off and on the camera until it came back normal. However, this did not work when the screen was just blue.

Hey Brian. Sorry if my original comment cast a shadow over the bypass kit.

I want to restate to everyone following this thread that my camera issue is in NO WAY related to Brian's Bypass Kit. This kit works great and is of professional quality, just like his other products. If anyone is looking into this kit you should not hesitate due to the aforementioned CAMERA kit blips. Happy modding!

No problem, I know that wasn't your intent and thanks for the kind words.

I don't see how anyone wouldn't want this. It is so cool to be able to input nav instructions without pulling over now! And the rear view mirror on the nav screen is what the car has been missing all along. I am just worried I will wear out the switch--lol. At least replacing the switch would only take about a minute

Yes, I agree! Grabbing one of these kits while available is a wise move for those with Nav. A more then terrific offering at a bargain price. Reality is if you have a pricey 370Z with Nav, many of it's goodies are crippled thanks to Nissan. Crippled unless you do something about it. This kit over-rides the crippling! Install of this kit is a no brainer/easy, easy.

Should BDL99 not offer this kit for some reason in the future you will really regret not getting the kit when you had the opportunity to. I have had the opportunity to see and benefit from this kit and all I can say is BDL99 you get the prize for this one!

Thanks to the BDL Bypass Kit, you have full, unrestricted use of the Nav system, full unrestricted use of your blue-tooth enabled cellphone. Another plus is DVD playing while driving for your passenger to enjoy. Also, slide show presentation via USB input while driving is not crippled. Another bigge is the rear camera (if you have one) can be turned on when driving forward and you can view the side blind spots where other vehicles lurk. This is terrific in bad traffic situations especially.

The kit is plug and play. No cutting of factory wires, etc.. Easy to install. A terrific add on to one's Z with Nav. Well worth the $149.99 BDL99 is asking for it. Actually, I'm surprized he is selling it for so little.
