Plug and Play Bypass Kit (DVD, NAV and backup Camera) Discussion

Yep, 2010 model, I was blessed to find a low milage 2nd hand model of the exact spec and colour I wanted locally, so somebody else paid my first years

Sorry guys, I have not had the time to follow through on this. I acquired 50 sets of AV connectors, one set of connector and heated seat switch, as well as building a test rig to test each kit, so I still want to do this but just not had the time. With work and family commitments I have been able to keep up with any backup camera kit demand, but the bypass kits require more time commitment.

Things have started to calm down a bit so I hope to be able to dedicate some time to this in the coming weeks. I hope (if Jeff is still in) to create a sample and install in Jeff's car. Once I've done that I should be able to steadily meet the demand.

Thanks,
Brian

Just a forewarning Brian, it seems the heater switch "HI" light does not come on when forward advancing the relay to release VSS. I have experienced this on both harneses I built with both the Altima and 370Z seat heater switch. Maybe it doesn't like the relay and senses an open rather than closed circuit. Just a heads up... Mark

Brian & Mark...
You guys are amazing. I have been trying to bypass my nav in my avalanche off & on for a year now. Count me in for the full package when your ready Bryan. Do you recommend a specific brand camera or could you include one in your price? Thanks for the hard work!

Erik

Forgot to mention that I'd need the switch option, not the remote. Ty!

On the bench it certainly works so I may need to add a diode or transistor to make it work in situ, but I will make it work one way or another. I'm now getting ready to supply the kits and will be installing the kit in Jeff's car when he is next free.

Did you permanently earth the parking brake sensor and if so have you seen any downsides of that approach. It has been so long I couldn't remember if we decided on switching the parking brake sensor and breaking the speed sensor circuit on one button or having the bypass circuit effectively permanent and having one switch do the reversing override and the other the speed sensor.

I grounded the parking brake sensor permanently. The speed sensor is broken via relay ( and no light on the switch in this mode) and the rear camera is activated by the other direction of the switch (with light activation). I am using a standard bosch relay for the speed break circuit (76 - 76a)
Let me know if you have a solution to the light not coming on when the relay is activated.

Are you using a SPDT relay? The one with 5 pins? It should be wired as displayed below. When the relay has no juice (heated seat switch in center position) the speed sensor wire is connected as normal pins 30 to 87a, then when 12V is applied to 85 the relay is activated and the 30 to 87a circuit is broken.
