Just making sure, but the bypass kit will work fine with the reverse camera kit I bought from you last year and installed?

So for anyone still following this I will reiterate...Brian's product (camera kit/bypass harness) was in no way related to my intermittent video feed. The Kenwood harness was the culprit. Thanks again Brian for the great products and the product support! |

For the terminally OCD
Installed my by-pass harness last weekend and it works great. Thanks Brian!
While the console was disassembled, I also installed my GTR red start button. The metallic red really pops in the black interior. While I love the functionality and fit of the third toggle switch, the fact that it's got a seat symbol on it kind of bothered my inner-OCD nerdness. Since the symbol is engraved in the switch, painting it isn't a solution. I looked for a decal that might work, but nothing is small enough that makes sense in the interior, plus a decal is not thick enough to cover the engraving. Then it hit me. I just received my set of Z valve stem caps from the Z Store. The Z cap is simply a vinyl button glued to a generic chrome stem. The button is black with a chrome Z symbol. It looked like a possible fit, so I took an exacto knife and carefully pried one of the buttons off the valve stem cap. Most of the adhesive seemed to come off with the cap. I then carefully centered it on the switch and it almost completely covered the seat symbol. Just the very corner of the seat top (practically a dot) remained exposed. Unless you are staring down at the button looking for it, you would never see it. If you didn't know to look for it, you would never notice it. So you end up with three switches - the outboard seat toggles, and the center toggle with a small chrome Z on it. It actually blends in well with the silver trim and the black interior. If anyone is interested, I'll post some pictures this weekend.

Here's a crappy cell phone pic at night. I'll try and take a picture during the day tomorrow.

For those who are on the fence regarding the bypass switch kits, I have just received the parts for another 6 kits and I'm seriously considering putting the price up for the next batch as the harnesses are so time consuming to make. |

Hi,
just want to say "many thanks" to Brian, I installed the rear view Camera Kit and the DVD in Motion with remote last week. It works perfect. Just got a little trouble with the config of the camera, the positioning lines didn't appear. After a reinit and the introduction of the exact values it works perfect. best regards Pascal |

Loving my bypass kit!! Very easy to install. And if you need to ground it, you can ground to the silver screw that holds the screen on. I also tucked the relay box under the screen resting on top of the stereo/dvd player. Everything fit perfectly.

For those of you with the remote based bypass kit Brian offers, you might be interested in knowing that you can program your HomeLink mirror to the buttons on the Car Kit Company bypass remote. The remotes buttons, pair EASILY with the buttons on the rear view mirror with Homelink. SO, you can either use the remote that comes with Brian's remote based kit or just use the buttons on the HomeLink rear view mirror instead of the kit's remote.. Slick as chitt........
Programming your HomeLink mirror with the Car Kit Company bypass remote transmitter: 1. For first time training, press and hold the two outer HomeLink® buttons, releasing only when the HomeLink® indicator light begins to flash after 20 seconds. (Do not perform this step when training the additional HomeLink® buttons.) 2. Turn your vehicle’s ignition switch to the second (or "accessory") position. If you have a Start button, press it twice to get to accessory.. 3 Position the Car Kit Company bypass kit's handheld remote transmitter 1 to 3 inches away from the HomeLink® surface (located on your mirror), keeping the HomeLink® indicator light in view. 4. Using both hands, simultaneously press and hold both the desired HomeLink® button and Car Kit Company bypass kit's handheld remote transmitter button. Continue to press hold both buttons until the HomeLink® indicator light flashs, first slowly and then rapidly. When the indicator light flashes rapidly, release both buttons. (The rapid flashing light indicates successful programming of the new frequency signal.) 5. Now press and hold the programmed HomeLink® button and observe the indicator light. If the indicator light is solid/continuous, programming is complete. After you have done the pairing of each button you will be able to hear a very slight audible click coming form the area where you installed the Car Kit Company harness and remote receiver each time you press one of the buttons you paired on your HomeLink® mirror. You may not have noticed but when you press any button on the Car Kit Company remote transmitter you will also hear that slight audible click.. |
