Those are the settings I use as well, I listen to everything you do as well plus some rock here and there. I have found that different audio sources sound best with higher or lower base settings, I never change the treble though.

I listen to mostly electro house and both of mine are set to +2. However, I have aftermarker speakers and sub, with Alpine amp and and Audio Control LS6. So I have the amp and the LS6 dialed in to my tastes and loudness, which is why I have the factory settings at +2. Any higher on these settings and it's a bit too piercing and booming once I get on the highway and I turn it up past 18 on VOL.

DO it and be happy with the sound quality rather than trying to make bose sound better.

Have you actually taken your door panels off and pulled a speaker out to look at it? Just because it says Bose on them, doesn't mean they are all that good. They are cheap *** paper cones, with a paper surround, and a tiny magnet. You can go go buy the cheapest speakers at Wal-Mart or Crutchfield, and they'll sound better than the stock Bose.

I just run it flat. This Bose system doesn't sound nearly as good as the one in my old Saab, which I thought sounded pretty awesome for a car stereo. This one seems weak on the midbass. It definitely has enough punch from the subs but then there's a whole flat area in the sound response above that. I haven't messed with the bass control because I figured that would overboost the subs, which would just sound bad in a different way.

I'd like to figure out a way to change out the 6x9's in the door. Before anyone suggests changing the stereo, save your typing. Not only do I have almost zero interest in car stereos, I have the nav system which I wouldn't rip out under any circumstance.

Anyone care to expand on what the fitment issues are with the door speakers? Is it a spacer issue? Because I'm definitely capable enough to make something like that and my time is essentially free. I read another thread about it and the guy who wrote it didn't really expand on what the fitment issue was. If I could improve the sound of the system for the cost of a pair of speakers and my time, I think that would be worth it.

I bought my Sport/Touring (no nav) this week and had read on this forum about the added expense of replacing Bose stuff with aftermarket, but decided I really wanted the leather seats enough to get the touring package.

Does the Bose have to be replaced all at once? Can I just replace the speakers with aftermarket that fit in the factory locations, and swap the Bose amp(s) for aftermarket? If I do decide to upgrade beyond the Bose, I'd want to do it in chunks... maybe speakers/amp, sub/amp, and head unit in 3 more affordable installs (and not have to leave my car at a shop overnight).

Can I replace the OEM head unit and keep the Bose amps/speakers for now? I'd like better iPod integration and navigation.

I too am interested in how to make the stock Bose sound a bit better.

I had a Bose in my RX-8, and it sounded great. I have a Bose in my Mazda3 HB, and it sounds good. I have the Bose in the Z, and it sounds just slightly better than crap. Obviously, the acoustics of these cars is different, but I suspect a decline in quality over the years.

I'm not enough of an audiophile to change the HU. I might consider changing speakers. I have found that I can get a much better sound by fading the speakers more to the front (surprisingly, at least to me, I get more out of the spare-tire mounted sub this way).

I listen to mostly rock.

Anybody play around with the fade settings for better sound? Got a recommendation for replacement speakers?

Could I just change the speakers and not the sub?

is it even worth changing the speakers while keeping the rest stock.

I looked it up, changin the audio in this car is too expensive, such a shame.

my megane had 4 highend focal speakers 500 watt sub, 2 alpine amplifiers for the speakers and sub.

thing was awesome.

so far since ive had it i had the bass turned up all the way and the treble is pretty high to and its sounds great i listen to mostly hip hop r&b and reggae. I dont know whats the chances of them popping are. people on the forum say bose has something that prevents it from damaging it self. i dont really know. if you want to find out everything you have to read trough a bunch of forums because they always tell you its been talk about many times. (which it really has after they pointed it out to me). Worse case situation they pop and ill just have them replace with better ones.

Perhaps my search terms are too specific, as I did not find too much about settings (lots about changing components). I'll keep trying.

I know that the Z bose speakers are shitty to somebody who is into audio work.

but how about the Gt-r bose setup.
