Is it really necessary to upgrade to the Optima Yellow Top battery? Does the stock battery provide more than enough juice to power simple audio upgrades?

Thoughts on Optima Yellow Top Batteries
Is it really necessary to upgrade to the Optima Yellow Top battery? Does the stock battery provide more than enough juice to power simple audio upgrades?

I would think if you're not pushing a bunch of amps.
I bought a red top for my 350 directly from Optima and it only cost me $150 bucks with free shipping. I just checked their site and the red is 159, the yellow is 199. |

I use to run a yellow top in my old civic, no need for them but more power for when your sitting at a show to draw from. Other than that and if your running a crazy system than I would not worry about it.
If you have light dimming time to do the "big 3" or add a second small battery.

They have been hit and miss for the last 7 years, i would look at another brand...Odessey, or Kinetik.
But as mentioned, if the lights are dimming, big 3 first, my lights dimmed even with the big 3, so a cap went in and fixed that. |

Caps are a waste of time and effort the are a band aid for bigger problems.

Upgrading your battery is a very good idea if you are running anywhere around 1000 watts of amplification. However I would not choose and Optima Battery. Your best bet is dry cell technology such as ones made by Stinger and Oddyessy. Those batteries will take a beating!

Caps are not do any amount of google searches of look on car audio web sites. The can actually harm your charging system rather than help it.
