Aftermarket speakers that fit on the door w/o drilling
hey guys,
not very impressed with the stock(base) audio system. However, I'd like to replace the speakers and try to make it sound a bit better. I'm looking for a pair of speakers that I can do a straight swap with the stock speakers w/o any drilling or modification. Do these speakers exist? If so, what brand/models are out there with a decent sound quality? I am a n00b when it comes to car audio.. any help is appreciated! |

Any 6-1/2 Speaker will fit with little to no modification, however you need to get some 3/4" speaker rings that bolt into the stock speaker holes. These can be easily found on fleabay. The extra 3/4" depth will allow large basket drivers to drop right in without obstructing anything or hitting the inside of the door. I would use the stock tweeter location as it is also easy to fit tweeters in the dash without cutting or modifying the factory opening.
In your case a speaker upgrade can be easily done in a couple of hours.

Will Polk Audio DB6501's fit without the 3/4" spacer in a 2010 Nismo? And by the way they are on sale today for 55.00 at Amazon. I bought them last month for 110.00 and thought I got a good deal!

The polk db's will fit WITHOUT a spacer ring direct fit and even use the same holes using the adapter ring that comes with the polks.
The only thing you will have to make or cut up is the tweeter bracket. Also I highly recommend running new wires from the crossover to the new speakers.

anyone knows if Polk MM651 will fit into the door depth-wise?
I've seen from other forums that the MM651's will give you more bass over the DB651's when running on stock HU. Anyone had experience with these? The MM's cost $60 more .. do they sound better enough over the DB's to justify the additional $$? thx! |

Probably, I mean I fit a set of ID CXS in the openings with spacers.
