Wiring Help!

OK, so I'm instaling my Pioneer x920BT in my NISMO with a Scosche harness and I have the following questions:
1. The Scosche has an Orange/white and an Orange/black. Which goes to illumination (orange/white) on the Pioner harness?
2. The Scosche harness has a blue wire. Does this go to the system remote (blue/white on the Pioner harness?
3. Where does the car speed signal input (pink) from the Pioneer harness go?
4. Where do I connect the reverse gear signal (violet/white) from the pioneer harness?

Thanks!

here's what it looks like so far:

Whre does the Orange/black wire go?

Notice, I have already moved the Mute wire over (for the bypass - pin came right out...30 seconds BTW) and soldered it to the parking brake and ground wire. Also, notice the two wires I have yet to connect to anything...speed sensor (violet/black) and reverse signal (pink/white).

The blue and white wire on the Pioneer is a remote turn on lead for an external amp and needs to be connected to the blue wire from the antenna adapter.

Orange and white on the scosche harness goes to the orange on the Pioneer harness.

Not sure where to connect the speed sensor wire I'd like to know also but, the GPS will work without it.

You can pick up the reverse signal wire in the wire harness thats in the drivers kick panel next to the fuse box.

Thanks!

One question though: Where is this "antenna adapter"? As you can see in the photo, I have connected the blue/white from the Pioneer to the blue from the Scosche harness. Is this correct?

Gmendez 11-09-2010 12:47 PM

...and what's the deal with the Orange/black from the Scosche harness?

You have to purchase the antenna adapter separate. It will have a blue wire coming off of it. Hook that blue wire to the blue/white wire from the head unit.

Awesome! Now I'm clear.

I still have no idea what the orange/black wire from the Scosche is for. Anyone?

Turn everything on and see if it all works... If it does, then that wire is not needed. Crimp off and tuck away.

The blue wire on the Scosche does nothing. When you get your antenna adapter connect the blue wire from the Pioneer harness to the blue on the antenna adapter.

I tested the blue wire in the Scosche with a multimeter while plugged into the Nissan harness and it doesn't do anything.

I connected the speed signal to the yellow wire shown on my post here (pin 18). I just got my install done late last night on my 920BT so I haven't checked the ecco function to confirm but I'm sure it's right.

I can tell you though I read another guys question regarding this wire. He was told not to connect it because it would not allow you to play movies ect while the car is moving. This is wrong. As long as you have the bypass done on the AV harness it works. I confirmed this last night. I was able to play a DVD while driving and I have the speed wire connected.

OK, I'm cool on the blue wire. Thanks!

In your post (linked), you indicate that your "head started to hurt" because none of the other wires matched. Is this still the case, because mine don;t match at all either. Pin 18 is the Orange/Black for me (refer to my first pic on the this thread). I will assume that I can connect the speed signal wire from the Pioneer harness to it?

I have the speed wire hooked up and have done the hack for this model and it works, just FYI.

Some harness diagrams want you to view it from the pin side with the wires facing away, other the opposite. pin 18 shows it on the very corner and its yellow. There is only one that's on the corner and yellow (not the fat yellow in that single large pin on the end). I tapped the smaller yellow on the bottom row corner.

PG6speed was nice enough to send me this image for the reverse wire location. When you take the loom off there are two harnesses merged. For me the one closest to the metal interior wall had the orangish tanish wire for reverse. There are 4-5 in there so youll have to test them with a meter. Should read 0 volts in gear/neutral and 11-14 with the car in reverse.

I saw you ask about the bypass on the other post. Here's the info.

Bypass for AVIC-X920BT video.

You can do this or, if you look on the post on the AVIC411 forum you will see more info. Some guys claim to be able to pull up on the 3 locking tabs on the plug or the AV harness (only to loose it up do not pull it apart) then use staple or 2 or a small object to release that pin. There is a small hole above the hole with the pin itself where the locking tab is. You stick your staple or whatever in the locking tab hole to try and release it (instead of cutting)

I think I need to clarify....

1. I have already done the hack (moved the mute wire over one pin and connected it to the paking wire & ground on the harness).
2. I know where to get the reverse wire (kick panel - thanks for the post/pics).
3. Pin 18 on your diagram (separate post) lines up with the Orange/Black wire (see my first pic on this thread), but none of the other wires match. This is where I am confused. Did all of your wires match your pinout diagram?

You will not connect the speed wire to the Scosche harness. You connect it to the pink wire marked vehicle speed sensor on the Pioneer harness. Esentially I extended the pink wire to reach the Nissan harness and tapped it. If the yellow speed wire is on the same pin as your orange wire then i guess u can use it. I dont remeber if I checked that.

To eliminate confusion find some wires you know of for sure like power, front speakers ect to make sure you are looking at it right. Hopefully cross referncing those will let you look at it the right way and it will fall into place. That's what I did. If it wasn't in the car already I'd take a pic, sorry.
