Am I color blind or retarded?
Ok so I'm trying to install my back up cam and I'm to the step where I need to tap into the reverse light wire in the trunk. Every post I have read says that i need to tap into the "ORANGE" wire. The only problem is, that there is no orange wire in the bundle. I read one post about a guy having 2 orange wires and being told that either will work...but I dont have any. That is unless I'm looking in the wrong spot.
What I do have is 3 light brown wires, are those the "orange" wires I'm to be looking for? Heres a pic... http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...-49-37_413.jpg I appreciate any feedback. |
I agree.....no Orange wire.......maybe they ran out of orange wire......?
|
In for the update! I will be going this route soon...
|
Is this the right bunch of wire?
|
You could always pull out the taillight and see what wire is going to the backup light.
I installed one, but I can't remember what wire I used. Oh yeah. And when you ask two questions in the title of your thread, you need to put up a poll. :icon18: |
Looks like the fourth one down from top and third from bottom are "orange" to me. Good thing it's not a bomb!
|
Light orange not direct orange color.
|
well I guess they did run out of orange wire... I took the taillight out and traced the wire from the bulb to the harness and sure 'nuff light brown...WTF?

on what planet is that color orange? I would say "tan" at the least. Unless this is the day I find out I'm color blind. Also why am I the first to find 3 of these "orange" wires?
|
lol. I am colorblind and 50% of those wires look the same to me.

Can you put a volt meter on it? Brake off is no volts, brake on has volts?
|
i would secont the notion of fourth from the top and third from the bottom.
at least they didn't make them all black, and simply say connect the black to the black and the second black one to the other black one, lol! |
Well I did find the correct one. It was simply a matter of pulling the taillight out of the car and tracing the "orange" wire (which turns into a green wire on the taillight side of the harness) back into the car. It was one of the what I would call "light brown" or "tan" wires (of which I have 3 in the bundle of wires). Whether it be orange or brown or tan I got it working and thats all that really matters in the end.
