Default Non-Bose Aftermarket Setup NEED ADVICE

Hey Guys, so Ive already purchased a new headunit for my car "Sony XAV 70bt" and now looking at getting some other goodies. The amp is throwing me off because I do not want to spend tons on just an Amp but definitely dont want to get the worst of the bunch. This is what I'm picturing, let me know what you think.

Sony XAV 70BT headunit
Boston Acquestic SR60 Component Speakers
PowerBass 600x4 4 channel amp
12'' W3 2ohm

Im hoping I to have amp power the speakers and the sub together. Since I only have front speakers "like almost everyone " i figured bridging the remaining two to the w3 would be enough to reach the RMS on all speakers.

And Im assuming I will have to run 2 sets of RCA's on this as well, Correct?

I think the only thing Im basically going to get roasted on is the AMP but their new to me and honestly have never heard a thing about them.... Probably not a good thing but hey, thats why im posting this little note on this forum

You seem to be falling into the cheap boat quickly to put it blunt. If you need to go cheap. Buy one thing at a time and save for the parts and upgrade as money comes around. The bad thing is to redo something twice. I know I have had my car apart over 16 times trying different speakers, amps, and head units.

Sense you already bought the sony that is already there. Unless you did not look at the lower end kenwoods they are great band for the buck and offer a lot.

For a amp here are a few well priced amps. Not all amps can run a sub and speakers well.
5350a - Infinity 5 Channel Amplifier
PA500.4 - Polk Audio 4 Ch 500 Watt Amplifier
And there is always the alpine pdx5

If you are going with JL you are going to want a strong amp to power it, the infinity and alpine would do this best.

The bostons I think I have told you about before they are good but there are other choices as well for better money.

Tips for buying, look on ebay caraudio.com in the F/S section craigslist and my favorite woofersetc.com

Sorry to talk about what you are planning just know how things go when I started. I bought lower end stuff thinking I was going to like it but I was wrong in the long run I spent more money swapping out stuff than saving and doing it right the first time. Do it once do it right.

yea im actually looking online but the headunit is already here. I figured the w3 and the front component speakers were a decent choice since im not looking at blasting. I even bought a set of Monster cable 1304 4 channel rca. Those were decently priced.

MMhhhmm so let me ask you, whats your opinion on component speakers? I got the BA SR 60 for about 160ish online. Crutchfield had them around 400

oh ps... money isnt the issue but I just do not want to overspend or overkill on my system. I had a type x with a v12 amp in the 350z but im honestly looking for a little bit of depth with clean crisp sound. Thats honestly all I want to budget in regards to my 370z audio install. I know I could spend more and get much better items but again... not looking at getting into an audio shows or competitions anytime in the near future. just an fyi but please do give opinions .

Few things monster cable or any cable for car audio is over rated, normal kicker or wlamart rcas will do.
Here are some links to some other options for speakers. Crutchfield marks things up so they are usually cheaper elsewhere anyway

http://www.woofersetc.com/p6133/DB65...t-Speakers.htm

http://www.woofersetc.com/p3372/165A...t-Speakers.htm

MM6501UM - Polk Audio 6-3/4" marine component speaker system

CXS64 V.2 - Image Dynamics 6.5" 4 ohm Component System

160V2 - Focal 6" 2 Way Component System

The bostons are good but here are some other options to look at, the first set are a bit lower than the bostons but still a good set. It is what I am running right now as I am going to trade my car in next year.

Agreed for the price the Polk Db components are great and the Alpine PDX-5 is an excellent amp (compact in size and clean power) that will run everything in your car for about $350-$375.

Another amp you may want to look at is the Kicker ZX550.3. Its not as clean powered as the Alpine but its also about half the price and has 120 more watts on the sub channel than the Alpine PDX-5. Sonicelectronics.com has the Kicker amp on sale with a 4gauge install kit + free shipping for $199.

The Alpine is a better amp than the Kicker and I would suggest the Alpine if you're going to go with the Polk Db's or even something better.

Having said that the Kicker amp and the Polk Db's are middle of the ground equipment and will work well together for a great price. As you said you are'nt looking for a competition system just something that will sound good and be reliable.

I actually was reading about that kicker amp right before I checked your post. It seems like it will do what just what I want. Enough to power those front speakers and just a little bit of depth to give me a better daily drive home I bought my head unit and others things from sonicelectronics.com they honestly have great prices.

So I assumed a good set of RCA's will help eliminate road noise and provide better sound...is this completely true or not? DO you think those RCA's that are included in the wiring bundle on sonicelectronics.com will provide good sound to the setup im choosing?

They will work fine for your setup but, you will need one more set of RCA's. One for the components and one for the sub.

Sounds great.... Already finalizing the final purchases and hoping they come in by friday. Weekend mods in my garage seems to be a great plan

I would have to say that this setup would atleast be better than the factory bose system, wouldnt you agree? I heard the factory bose is garbage. I have a bose home stereo that sounds great but WAY OVER PRICED and OVER RATED but do sound good

zero noise and silent one are all hype as long as you run them on oposite sides of the power wire you should have no problem with any rca.

Awesome. Last set of questions, on those component speakers for install.... Do I have to run new wires from dash to run to the crossover in the door? ALSO... I have done a few sub/amp installs in the past but never attempted to run amp/speaker. When splicing behind the radio, am I splicing new sections of the wire or could i just twist the amp's speaker wire and the aftermarket wiring harness speaker wire and the factory harness speaker wire to the same connection?

The steering wheel control adapter sounds like a pain so I’m going back and forth with the idea of installing it. Not sure how the install on that rates in terms of difficulty.

You have to run new wire to your speakers both of them and from your amp to your amp.

So one wire coming through the grommet of the door for the woofer the crossover you can put up above the kick panel and the tweeter drops down from the whole in the dash than a wire from the amp to the crossover. You do not need the wires behind the head unit to be wires for speakers.

Get the metra controls you cut two wires wire them up and do a manual setup you should be done in five minutes. Just make sure your air bag light is connected before you set it up. I wire the start button and the air bag light up with the dash half apart and program it before putting everything back together.

VERY wrong! You CAN and WILL have problems with cheap RCA's you don't have to buy top of the line RCA's, but you want to spend at least 30 a set retail, e-bay is any bodies guess. Look for "twisted pair"
