So I have a setup from my old car and wanna put it in the z.I have a pic of the amps and subs here:
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...r/CIMG2579.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...r/CIMG2578.jpg I dont know what power these amps are or the power of the subs? I just wanna know if i should get the zenclosure box with the 2 12's facing up, or the box with 1 12inch facing the rear? I dont know anything about this stuff so any advice helps.i also have diamond audio for the front speakers and tweeters.so what do you guys think i should do? thank you |
Since you already own this equipment you can use it in your Z. Just buy a zen box for 2 12's. Diamond makes some good stuff so it should sound good. Two 12's might be alot in the Z though? You will have to find a good place for your two amps.

If I were you I would only put one of those subs in for a few reasons.
One if your going to a smaller car your are going to get more bass from just one than you did from two in a bigger car. Also you will not have to work your amp as hard their by not straining you alternator as much because your gain "amp volume knob" will be turned down. Get a rear firing for better sound and louder bass. Also use the 6 1/2 only if they are components which means there is a tweeter and a crossover which is a small box that should be labeled something like "input" "tweeter" Woofer" If a tweeter is on the speaker they are coaxial's and you should get new speakers that are components. I recommend that you also run new wire from your amp to your speakers as well for better sound. |
If you really like boom then up firing 2 12's will be great. In an area as small as the Z it wont matter if they face up or back. Those amps and your alternator will handle it no prob.
If your wanting to change to a little more toned down and sound quality setup then a single 12 facing back is the way to go. As for the fronts use 6.5's. As was said before components are the way to go in this car (easy install and sounds the best). If money is tight and the speakers you already have are coaxial you can run them for a while, until you get components, as they are still better than the stock equipment. You didn't mention anything about a new head unit? |

still dont know if i should go with 1 or 2 subs...alpine your saying 1 sub would be loud facing the rear and would be deep enough? i havent looked at head units yet..sucks cause i really like the stock unit.. |
Yes use the 6.5's in the front thats what size the factory door speakers are. 6.5 in the door and tweeter in the dash, no need for the 4's.
For the subs its all personal preference. One 12 facing back is plenty loud and clear for most people but, you already have two 12's. If you really like loud base then go for it put 2 12's firing up, its up to you and your taste. |
I to agree no rear speakers and no 4 inch speakers just use the 6.5's and the subs. I did a setup with one 12 in a z and I had to get out of the car, to much bass for be as my ears were vibrating. One is what I recommend.

can i keep the factory unit and use it?
|
Use what? The speakers not recommended the head unit is only going to put out around 8 watts even a aftermarket one is only going to put out 22 watts RMS. I highly recommend using a amp to power your speakers.

A new head unit can use the factory sterring whee controls just need a metra axess to integrate them.
You can use the factory head unit but you are going to have to wire in a LOC or a better choice for a better quality output a MTX REQ5 |
