Do I need a dash kit for a DNX6960 in my NISMO?

Do I need one, or will the OEM trim snug up to the HU? Just want to avoid a nasty gap.

Probably not, if you want NO gap what so ever get the dash kit but kenwoods are good at filling the gap very well as aposed to pioneers.

If 6960 is Double DIN, then you do not. However you'll get a very small gap around HU. I never used a dash kit with my car because the gap is REALLY small (also when my headunit was installed, this dash kit wasn't ready to buy). If you want to spend the extra money, it's your call.

I put my 9960 in first without a kit and had the small gap that AK spoke of. I bought a Metra kit off of a guy here and installed it.
I honestly liked it better without the kit. I can post pictures of both tonight to show you the difference.

Wow.. Like I've said a few times on this forum.. using the dash kit is all about personal preference, but for me that gap on the side would drive me nuts!

The gap really isn't a large as it looks in the picture. The flash really "enlarged" the space. Wish I'd taken a few pics further away like I did with the kit.

I installed my DNX 6960 without the dash kit to see if I liked it and it looked decent, but I went ahead and reinstalled using the kit. Looks cleaner tat way if you ask me. Now I just have to address my tweeter issue and my rattling stealth box, lol.

If you look it matches the tweeter covers and a few other things in your cabin. I would recommend it if you do not want gaps but again it is personal preference.

I have the kit sitting around, as I didnt use it for installing a 9960; I do sometimes feel like closing the "gap"
Here is what mine looks like:

you guys should just get some EZ felt and experiment with making that gasket. it's easy, can't really mess up (unless you totally all thumbs), absolutely no rattling to worry about, ive never seen my fade in UV, and it's readily available at your local artsy store.

also the metra dash kit is not an exact match of the factory plastic. its rougher and made of a cheaper material.

p.s. you WILL NOT NEED A DASH KIT for any pioneer units. just a heads up.
