Not digging the fog light thing but nice head unit install.

diablokev87 10-20-2010 12:36 AM

Awww, how come you don't like the fog light mod?

bigaudiofanat 10-20-2010 12:59 AM

Honestly looks stupid like a driving billboard and people may be distracted by it and run into the back of you.

diablokev87 10-20-2010 01:03 AM

Well had it in for a year now, so for no accidents. And I love the uniqueness factor. Same effect as having a 370z badge on the back of the car.

Coolest feature is that i can change the message via a wireless xbee module on my laptop. :)

Does this HU (or in general any of the double din multi use HU) have detachable face? If not is there any anti theft feature?

diablokev87 10-20-2010 09:00 AM

Im a going to say no to detachable face. As for anti-theft, ill have to read the manual to confirm, but I dont think so.

Maybe Big can chime in with a better response.

On the bt120 you can program in a secret code that has to be typed in if the radio is ever disconected from the battery.

Nice. I will have to set that up.

that won't really stop people from taking it, they just won't be able to sell it. unless you put a sticker "I set a password, don't steal my radio"

Tints / Alarm are your only real solutions.

diablokev87 10-20-2010 03:56 PM

Yea i will have to do those soon.

Turfgod 10-24-2010 11:00 AM

Laser etching serial numbers in parts does not stop people from stealing.

The install only took about 3 hours. A friend and i did it, and we were fooling around. Did all the wire crimping inside the house and just had to plug in harnesses and place antennas. If you are going to use the PAC unit, you will have some fun fitting it all in there. I ended up NOT mounting my HVAC control unit. It is kinda just hanging out back there with the PAC and the wires. All that stuff keeps it pretty secure.

Also, the bypass is very easy, definitely make sure you do it.

Got the same unit and I love it, had it in my g35 for 2 days then got the 370z and put it in the very next day, took about 2 hours, only one other person on island has this cause they are pricey, but blue tooth , voice recognition voice catalog pandora gps, DVD player, sd memory card to play music or vids and upload images for screen, as well as awesome compatibility with the iPod or iPhone, still use the factory steering wheel controls with an adapter of course, by far the best stereo I have ever came across, my best friend owns a stereo shop so I got the unit at cost instead of retail, saved a few $$$, and no need for a dash kit fits perfect IMO. Agree the bypass is easy, as far as security, I have to say yup can't stop the inevitable if someone wants to take one of these out they are going to, but they will have one hell of a time trying not to damage the unit as this bolts in with the factory brackets, and is in there snug. Not to mention the countless amount of video, speaker, and cable wires they will have to cut of rip, I ran my iPhone video cable under the center console and took out the lighter and ran it through there, perfect, once I take pics I will post can out very clean. Love the blue Z BTW :) you don't see those in Hawaii at all:(

diablokev87 11-02-2010 05:40 AM

Yea, so far loving it very much. Which steering wheel control unit did you use. I still have to install mine. It got dark and I didn't wire it up during this install? And I enjoy the blue as well, Thanks!

nice! what island are you on man?

370zHawaii 11-02-2010 01:35 PM

The steering wheel adapter we used was made by Access Interface, I will be honest that part of the install was quite tricky, we thought we were going to have to flash the adapter :( but luckily my best friend manually programmed it took about 15 minutes To figure it out and get it to function correctly but it worked:) I was sweating though because I really wanted my steering wheel controls to still work. All buttons work like OEM even the source button which for some reason didn't work on the G35? I will get you the part number when I stop by his shop after work, I am typing from my iPhone inside my car right now and this screen strains the eyeballs:)

I live on the island of Oahu, a few major cities we have are Waikiki, Honolulu, Pearl City etc etc it's nice here but our winter consist of a lot of rain:/

370zHawaii 11-02-2010 03:24 PM

Ok I got the part number is ASWC made by access interface, my best friend says not to go by the wiring diagram it comes with but instead go by the wiring diagram from the Access Interface website :) reason is because the car is so new hope this helps :)

diablokev87 11-02-2010 03:27 PM

Nice, i will give that a try in a few weeks. Busy times now. Thanks!
