They are using a Car Toys in Willowbrook, they are doing a full Alpine setup mostly.
Alpine HU, amp, focal and it will all be hidden in the rear as they want to be able to still put golf clubs in the hatch area. Hoping to have pictures tonight of the install or this afternoon.

Now this would be the fella that impressed me. If I could just find 50% of the information he's given me I would be in hog heaven. Thanks Dreamer, didn't want to bother you or Baker with another question so thought I would try the board, and hopefully see what a variety of folks thought. I'll check out Car Toys this weekend. :tiphat:

A local shop is a must, I just don't have the time to get out of town for something like this.

Thanks for the heads up!!!

I would not be out of town I would be coming to you that was the point of the other thread. Good luck with the shop!

bluelion 09-28-2010 09:08 PM

i believe what's he's referring to about going out of town, is driving from Houston to San Antonio (where you'd be).... that's a 4 hr drive easily (one way)

bigaudiofanat 09-28-2010 09:08 PM

Got ya

I got to see/hear the car yesterday and it was very very impressive, here are a few snap shots I got with my phone really quick. Have to stop by Baker again today to drop my car off so will get all the details on what was installed exactly, model, specs, etc.

The rear with mat on, looks normal:

Underneath it all:

Of course they had to add something:

Head unit:

This is the audio shop they used, I believe:

Houston, TX 77064-1012

It sounds absolutely amazing also, I really do not like car audio setups mostly. But from the perspective of proper high/lows and balance it was good. No bottoming out of the bass or low thuds, the highs were very crisp and clean without piercing at all. You could lower it to be enjoyable and raise it to be loud if you want.

Plus it had some blue lights.

Did the car have rear speakers put in? The ones right in front of the bar?

It had rear speakers, but not sure if the car already had them or not and they just upgraded them and such.

The gap around the headunit, is that because there was no extra trim piece added in there. I have noticed everyone does the dash kit a little different, Matt seems to have the tightest look going with the kit he is using.

Comments, I am looking to install a Double Din and don't want a gap?

Nice install going on there!

90 ST 10-03-2010 10:52 AM

if you go with Metra's dash kit it looks clean, my guess is some are not using the dash kit cause they have a double din stock, but it's not a standard DD thus the gap.

theDreamer 10-03-2010 12:03 PM

Not sure if they started with a base or touring, but I have a small gap and did not use the metra kit, which no point in buying unless the gap is that big. Even with mine and this one you do not notice it unless you are at certain angles.
