Car Function Adjustments Available Only with Nav?
Here's my quandary as we purchased the Touring model, but without the nav. There are features that I would like to adjust but to date have not discovered how to do so. The Auto Headlight Sensitivity is too sensitive, and there are four choices, but with our setup there appears only to be the most sensitive, set at the factory. I would also like to change the Auto Headlights Off Delay. Does anyone know the secret handshake or have the special decoder ring?
Below are the nav screens showing some of the adjustments that appear to be unavailable unless you have the factory nav: Here is the owner's manual text: Comfort & Conv. settings The display as illustrated will appear when pushing the SETTING button, selecting the “Comfort & Conv.” key with the multi-function controller and pushing the ENTER button. This key does not appear on the display until the ignition switch is pushed to the ON position. Auto Interior Illumination: When this item is turned to ON, the interior lights will illuminate if any door is unlocked. Auto Headlights Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity of the automatic headlights higher (right) or lower (left). Auto Headlights Off Delay: Choose the duration of the automatic headlight off timer from 0, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 second periods. Speed Sensing Wiper Interval: When this item is turned to ON, the wiper interval is adjusted automatically according to the vehicle speed. Selective Door Unlock: When this item is turned to ON, only the driver’s door is unlocked first after the door unlock operation. When the door handle request switch on the driver’s or front passenger’s side door is pushed to be unlocked, only the corresponding door is unlocked first. All the doors can be unlocked if the door unlock operation is performed again within 60 seconds. When this item is turned to OFF, all the doors will be unlocked after the door unlock operation is performed once. Intelligent Key Lock/Unlock: When this item is turned to ON, doorlock/unlock function by pushing the door handle request switch will be activated. Return All Settings to Default: Select this item, push the ENTER button and choose “YES” if you want to return all settings to the default. Last edited by SoCal 370Z; 03-09-2009 at 07:57 PM. |

I was just getting ready to ask the very same question. I have a bad feeling about the answer. I think that Nav system is something I coulda, woulda, shoulda gotten!

These car functions, and unrelated nav features, could have easily been included in the Vehicle information display (aka fuel gauge). |

Not necessarily as the dealer should be able to program these functions. AK is looking into the Service Manual that should give us a clue.

Trust me your better off with aftermarket than with the bose system that comes with the nav. but than again you would not have the settings you want to play with.

The update goes much like, well...picture Ghosn holding-up his middle finger to you, unless, you purchased a 370Z with factory nav. I've read here where some owners wanted their headlight timing adjusted only to be quoted exorbitant prices from the dealership. Pretty stupid on Nissan's part to omit these settings via the orphan gauge (aka fuel, temp, etc.).
