Suggestions needed to upgrade from Bose HU
I want to keep the Bose HU for the OEM look, but are looking to get audiophile quality sound.
I came across the Audison Bit One as a starting point and then to add amps and speakers. I am very newb with car audio (mainly into Hi-Fi) Is there another system that I can try in the place of the Audison ito bang for the buck and what amps speakers would you recommend? I also need to be able to connect an iPod to the system. I listen to rock and acoustic rock. I suppose I need to give a budget : +- $2 000 Any advice recommendations will be appreciated |

The audison is pretty much the top of the line for the factory integration units. If you want to save some money go with the mtx re-q5. Your not going to need all the audison has to offer unless you are going to drop around 5k on amps and speakers.
I would look at audison for amps if you want a smoother sound and image dynamics for speakers the cxs are very nice and offer a rich smooth sound from their tweeters and deep mid bass from their woofers. I listen to a lot of rock and spanish guitar stuff and they sound great. Another way to fo for the amp is a 5 channel alpine pdx5 which will power the fronts and the sub with good power. I would look at image dynamics again for subs as they are higher end SQ subs and will offer solid tight bass in a z enclosure box.

ask big. he will have a solution for you.
i think he will say get a high to low converter, run new amp, rid the rear speakers, get nice focal components for the front. EDIT: dohh! you beat me to the post... Last edited by kenchan; 09-16-2010 at 11:39 AM. Reason: speak of the devil~ |

Thanks big,
So my current list looks like this: MTX re-Q5 ID CXS64 or should I go for the 62's? What combination should I look at with the subs / woofers, ie. 10" with the 64's? Is the IDMax the range I should be looking at? Doesn't seem if I will be able to get a Z enclosure here. |

Go with the IDQ and you can go with a 10 or a 12 I think 10 would be enough if you want it louder go with a 12.

So it is:
re-Q5 IDQ10v2D4 CXS64 (This will go into the doors, what should I go for for the rears if any?) Audison LRX2250 (This is on sale atm) If the 2 channel amp is not the desired choice for this setup, which model should I look for? What amp will work with this sub? Sorry for the newbie questions, I just don't want to regret my purchases after I done it. |

thanks big
I have supplied woofersetc with my final list of components. Only thing is that I won't be able to get a zenclosure. Will have to get one custom made here. Will the space in the spare wheel area be enough to fit the IDQ10v2D4? I would like to try and do a stealthy placement of the sub seeing that I won't do the zenclosure |

The audison is only a 4 channel the alpine is a five channel if you went with the audison you would need another amp. Audison is a high end SQ brand that makes amp unless you want something like that and want two amps than go with the alpine.

Hey Big, will the 2 channels for the fronts and a bridged 2 channels for the sub not work for this? That is what I thought about. (I won't be using back speakers)
