c5-650 component /w xd400/4 amp both JL audio

Hey guys, i'm a new 370Z owner and I must say the stock speakers are horrific:mad:. I have the base model and I cannot turn the speakers up very loud due to distortion. I was looking for some commentary on speakers/amp, as of now I don't want subs and not looking to do the rear speakers. The speakers and amp I had in mind are both JL audio speakers set up would be the c5-650 and the amp is the 4 channel 400/4 xd amp. Any suggestions on speakers amps would be much appreciated and also if someone already has something similar to my system let me know how you like it.

Thanks,

Thomas

JL Audio is high priced for what you get, I really like Boston Acoustic Pro Series, Alpine X type, Polk Audio DB series.

As for an amp the Alpine PDX series is popular, I like Boston myself but your choice is good.

JL components are just expensive, if your thinking higher end everyone loves Focal or Morel. For a high end amp look at Audison they are awesome in my book.

I agree with the over priced jl stuff. I recommend alpine pdx 5 amp.if you want to run.speakers and a sub and polk components and poll or rockford for subs.
Also X2 on audison and check out image dynamics as well.

At Sonic right now Polk MM6501 199$ or Boston Pro 60SE 289$
Boston Acoustic GT-2125 amp 229$
Alpine PDX 2.150 259$
Alpine PDX 5 379$ if you want to add a sub later.

I like Boston myself, always have. Seperate amps allow for more custom setup.

Either of those setups would be killer.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was your sub setup /w the stealthbox?

Juleous 09-06-2010 10:20 PM

I live in Canada so it costs me more than it would you.

Box shipped $250ish
2 subs $250
MTX RE-Q $100
HiFonics Amp $300
Wiring and Dynamat $300

You do the same for less from Cali.

Looked at it, way expensive for what you get IMO. I wanted something I could put what ever subs I wanted in it, I was thinking about going X type from the R type and pushing 1700watts at 1ohm on the Brutus. Easy to do, only problem Z electrical not powerfull enough at that point.

Way way way to expensive stupid expensive get a zenclosure box instead.

yeah that would be pretty insane in a small Z too "bumpinnnn" haha. the zenclosure box is reasonably priced as well, so I know you said to stay away from the JL c5 650's because of the price but the audio guy I got a quote from said those installed for 350$ does that seem reasonable or shady? and i'm really stoked on that 5 channel alpine amp thx for suggestion on that

If your going one sub look at the CAS enclosure, seems to be decent. I have two tens in a Zenclosure with 1000watts right now.

That's a good price for that JL model, only thing is could you get more for the same or less price? If your having someone do the install then your options are a little more limited, cause they will carry their brands.

5 channel amps are common place, many brands make them. The Alpine is a really good price for what you get, only thing is if your not going to bridge the 4 channels to two then it's a little under powered for some bigger components. But for a front stage only plus one sub you can't beat a PDX 5 on price. Quality sure but the Alpine unit is very nice, my only gripe would be to hide the wiring with end caps.

PDX5 amp is awesome. I almost went with the JL 900/5, but that baby is $$$$$
