I'm done with the cheapo Ebay camera's. I've learned my lesson.

JayYoon 08-26-2010 06:25 PM

seriously... especially the one thats shipped from china... starting bid $0.99... shipping... $29.99... i am so tired of those...

PS- dont ever buy sd cards on ebay... i literary got a fucken piece of a thick black paper instead...

bigaudiofanat 08-26-2010 07:05 PM

None of the china cameras I have installed have had problems and I have had no problems with any china stuff.

There are plenty on Amazon in the same price range -- sold by Amazon and not some third party

e.g.

Amazon.com: PYLE PLCM22IR Flush Mount Rear View Camera with 0 Lux Night Vision:…

I'd trust dealing with Amazon more than some overseas seller with a very low amount of feedback (score only 432 in 3 years)

And another

Amazon.com: Pyle - PLCMTOYOTA; Toyota Vehicle Specific Infrared Rear View Backup Camera: Electronics

The one I got on ebay from hong kong was junk.

JayYoon 09-10-2010 04:52 AM

imo esp something like rear view cam... i say spend at least $150-$200... this is def worth spending for... instead hoping to get lucky with some random junk... in case like this i would go with pioneer or kenwood... a trustworthy brand~~;; thats what i think~~;;

kenchan 09-10-2010 04:13 PM

yah, im a bit surprised big is recommending a potential ebay junk camera... (?)

bigaudiofanat 09-10-2010 07:00 PM

All the installs I have done with them I have had no problems nor complaints about the cameras.

flashburn 09-10-2010 09:16 PM

Well, as you know, a bunch of us here have had issues with those cheapo camera's. I'll be getting a Kenwood one this time, last Ebay camera I bought was a waste of $40 (+ install costs).

That's the camera I have and I love it. Can see at night, respectable wide angle, and GREAT price. It would be worth doing some blind tests on the various makes/models, like the 0 lux ones, the $200+ ones, and the $25 ones like this one, and show side by side comparisons. Yes, you do get what you pay for, but if the picture is clear, angle is wide, can see at night, and have similar warranties, why in the world would someone willingly pay 10 times the price for the same thing? Is it just to have a name brand?

Sigur 10-28-2010 11:51 PM

No its because they actually work. It's been documented on here the over exposure problems in sunlight, etc. One guy even got one where the camera was upside down inside the sealed little black box.

I highly doubt the $25 cameras from china have a warranty. Ever notice they sell for $1 + $24 shipping? If something goes wrong with it the seller is only obligated to refund u $1! Furthermore there have been MANY more reported cases of those cheap cameras breaking. Finally even if the thing gets replaced for free installing it can be a major pain!
