Oh by the way driving around with the Bose Sub going and the Dynamat has for surely increased the factory thump.

Thanks for the info. I'm not planning on adding a sub but wanted more definition in the sound overall. I'm not really a bass head so don't need too much thump. :)

In that case I added 10lbs with the Dynamat treatment.

cool!

i think i want to do just the trunk for now... do you guys think below is enough? it's like half the price of the bulk.

4 sheets of 12" x 36" (305mm x 914mm).

I used 5 sheets in the trunk kit, I got all the bottom covered most of all four sides as well as I used one full sheet over both the rear wheel wells. This really killed the tire noise.

5 sheets went fast 4 would just cover the bottom and most of the sides.

Sounds like you will get it covered really well!

Don't forget the Scosche panel removal tool from Wal-Mart, makes removing the rear panels very easy. Less than 1 hour and I had the entire rear empty.

Thanks, yah, I'm going to take my time on this and try to get all the visible metal covered as much as possible. :p

I have a cheezo harborfreight version trim removal tool set I used during the foglamp/rear cam install. Thinking about it now, I shouldve done the dynamat then! :D

Should have it installed and done before the weekend. :p

What made you guys choose this brand over Second Skin? I'm interested in reducing road noise and adding some thump to the factory Bose system. Also, with the Second Skin application, some guys were adding some extra foam liner on top. Just trying to gain a clear understanding.

Thanks

im not very familiar with second skin or its services and dynamat is available at amazon (free 2 day shipping for me), cost effective, lot of past experience with it, etc.

i used all 8 sheets to do the trunk and the rear arches. :p took like 3hrs.

i also added a black foam sheet on the ledge there to improve appearance
when i take out the trunk floor. :D will take her out on a test drive over
the weekend.

Nice that should make a huge difference to the road noise, I noticed that my engine sounded louder right away.

I have not had the pleasure of doing them yet, but I am planning on it how about the floor under the seat area?

yah, that would help too, i think!

while doing the dynamat last night i was thinking i should maybe do thick foam or something on the inside of the plastic trunk liner bits that cover the rear arch. especially on the driver side there's a HUGE cavity between the exterior quarter panel and the inner panel. i ended up dynamating the driver side outside arch through the rear opening... but i could not reach past the high point. there's a lot of resonance coming from there, i thinks..

Motored my Z this am and did notice significant noise reduction.

Noise level is probably about half. There's still plenty of noise but quite a bit toned down. I can hear bass notes quite a bit better now. :p
