finally starting to sound better

Have finally had the time to begin upgrading this outstanding stock unit!!!

Thought i would go with the speakers first and really glad i did.
I'm sure all you guys already knew but damn those were some cheap speakers
no way they wholesale for more then 9.95 each.

Anyway i installed a component set of JBL'S P660C 6.5 2-way.
I am really happy with the JBL'S it has made a drastic difference in the sound
quality the lows and highs sound great.

Next will be the DD HU. Looking at the JVC KWXR810 with built in bluetooth
for hands free calling.

I agree, I just picked up a set of component Polk DB's off craigslist for 75 bucks. Then got a pioneer head unit for a total of $200 bucks. Difference is amazing.

have to admit had mine done at a place called all pro audio
they wanted 75.00 to install and i just didn't have the time are the
now how to do it. though he did say he had hell getting
the wires up to the dash speakers. only down side was i had
to reset both power windows

I ran new wires myself. That way i can easily go back to stock if need be

TreeSemdyZee 08-20-2010 09:31 PM

What's your price range on the HU?
I've got a Kenwood DNX9960 and love it. It's top-end, but they have lower models that are loaded with features. Mine has voice command that actually works!
As far as wiring. Run new wires. I was going to use stock, but is a major pia if you're trying to add a crossover.
Check out sliknik (sp?) install vids. I think they're stickied.

edit: Didn't read your posts carefully enough about wiring. Reading comprehension fail.

yah, i think im going to do this too next season. the stock speakers sound okay with my HU but i know it can sound sooo much better. :p

bigaudiofanat 08-21-2010 12:39 AM

Upgrade to a external amp and you will really love them.

sonic370 08-21-2010 07:29 PM

Thanks for the advice. A decent HU will be next but i have one question.
As far as decent bass sound goes i've been there done that before with
the amps and 10in speakers and 2 grand spent. I'm going with the less is better
meaning money spent. anyway and don't rag please but what about
the pre powered boozaka subs. i heard one in a vette the other day and it
had a good punch to it. i just want some decent lows not trying to shake the ground.

I've had better luck with infinity basslink than the bass tubes but there's others out there that are thinner housing and fills the void. :)
