Project SQL Setup in Docaam's Z
Hello Everyone, Myself and my sponsor (for Subs, amps and installation) are currently working the 370Z and looking forward to create a subtle yet unique setup in the Z.
The pictures can speak volume so I would rather stick to pictures than explanation. The setup should be as follows as few things might change based on the job. Head unit : Kenwood DNX5360 Accessories: Kenwood Bluetooth Kenwood Reverse Camera PAC SWI JACK - Steering wheel Integration Speakers : Kicker KS 60.2 Front component speakers Alpine Seperates rear speakers Amplifiers : Swiss Audio Elite series E640.4 (4 Channel for the speakers) Swiss Audio Elite series E1200.1 (Mono Block for the sub 1) Swiss Audio Elite series E1200.1 (Mono Block for the sub 2) Sub woofer: Swiss Audio SPL1291L x 2 (1000W RMS, 12 inch SPL Subwoofer) Accessories: Kicker PKD1 (1/0AWG dual amplifier power wire kit) Kicker Fuse Block x 4 Kicker Distribution Block x 2 Sound proofing: Skematix Vibramat sound tiles Those are some the items I called of my head. Writing down the job card, it went more than 40 jobs. So I stopped. Thank you for listening and watching. We hope to complete this project clean and soon. Now some teaser Pics before we start.... http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/00.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/01.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/02.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/03.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/04.jpg Some of the items that might go into this project http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/05.jpg As you all know this where we have to put all of the above.. or atleast almost all... http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/06.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/07.jpg Some try outs and orientation.... hmmm... where is the space for 2 x 12 inch subs? http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/08.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/09.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/010.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/011.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/012.jpg Dig for the actual space... and more try outs. http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/13.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/14.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/15.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/16.jpg Finally panels are coming off. http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/17.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/18.jpg |
Factory HU vs Kenwood
http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/19.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/20.jpg Forgot to mention that the system will pull around 200Amperes at full load. This based on the fuse ratings of the amplifiers. This means 4AWG or even our special 25mm2 thick power wires wont be enough. Thus we upgraded to Kicker 1/0 AWG power wire kit which can handle upto 3000W system. Those wires are really thick and extremely flexible. This would also mean the big 3 upgrade in car audio should be performed Add thicker Ground wire from battery to the chassis Add thicker ground wire from engine to chassis Add thicker power wire from Alternator to battery positive terminal. Fortunately we noted that nissan has already installed 1/0 AWG wires for the alternator but total skipped on battery wires. So we upgraded the negative battery terminal and added the 1/0 AWG wires for the body from the battery and 25mmsq (3 awg) wires from engine to body. This is more like a grounding kit you would you for electrical improvements. The engine compartment. http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/21.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/22.jpg The 1/0 AWG wire as the negative terminal to body. http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/23.jpg The 1/0 AWG wire, 25mmsq wire and Kicker battery terminal http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/24.jpg Heavy duty soldering and insulation http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/25.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/26.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/27.jpg This is where the negative wire would be mounted http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/28.jpg Sand paper and elbow grease http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/29.jpg Kicker battery terminal http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/30.jpg |
Looks good my friend
|
Nice.
One minor recommendation unless you've already installed it. I'd go with the Metra Axxess ASWC instead of the PAC unit. It's a lot faster, doesn't use resistors and is a much sturdier unit. I've used both and hated the PAC. |
thanks jamaica :)
man I have already got the PAC, I know its slow but thats the only thing we can get it in dubai and dont want to wait for 2 weeks to get it shipped from US |
"subtle" usually means swapping out a HU and maybe a rearview camra, but man you guys have different definition of "subtle" out there in dubai. :D
looks like a fun project! big- any comments from your end? :p |

Never liked over kill when it comes to bass. But the owner will be happy with how loud that gets, might even want to do ported for even more bass.
|
Im not a loud base person might just run those woofers on lowest setting possible, but more of helping a friend to promote his business

this is the only update for today but car will finish by Sunday hopefully Kicker crossover for left speakers 2 Kicker distribution blocks Custom wire holder 3 Kicker fuse blocks Kicker crossover for right speakers http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/what.jpg Anyways the sub have arrived. http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/sub.jpg |
Mono Block amps converted to GCC Spec.
http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/80.jpg Sitting inside a trunk, under another amp, in a crammed space, with no ventilation and sealed these amps are going to go through a torture the engineers didnt expect. So a small 40mm fan is installed in two corners so there is complete air flow from all the ends. This should give the amps a little bit of peace. The fan would come on when the amp is turned on. So far the db on the fan is too low to be noticed and this shouldnt be bothersome. http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/81.jpg Night shots aint good. First rack been test fitted. http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/82.jpg Wires wires wires... We decided against sending these wires through drilled holes in the trunk. No unnecessary drilling. We instead used a route used by factory wires. Neatly stacked the plastic cover shouldnt have a problem concealing them. http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/83.jpg RCA lines routed through the opposite side to avoid noise pickup. http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/84.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/85.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/87.jpg Arranging this is a pain http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/86.jpg Box and amp rack waiting outside http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/88.jpg Amp test fitted on the amp rack. http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/89.jpg http://www.neoglow.net/photos/370z/90.jpg Today should be an exciting day!!! |
Some Wood work and panel try outs.

This is no longer a car, but a rolling stereo support system! lol insane setup.
Can the stock alternator hack this or are you upgrading that? |

Wow, that's an incredible install. I have 0 gauge on my RSX now and took a very long time to tediously install it myself. I had to use MDF baffles etc and shave my doors to make them fit again. I also like that you sealed your doors too (I did mine with eDeadv4 foam, as well as the standard dynamatt extreme).
Honestly, your car is my inspiration.:tiphat: |
That is a very nice install, good quality work for sure.
|
man this is a bad A$$ l0ve i t l0ve it!!!!
|
daaaaayyuuummmmm!!!!!! You make me wanna replicate your set up... it's sooo sick, docaam! How long did this project take?
|
It took the installer around 15 days but he was working on it only in the evenings. So full time maybe a weeks time
|
wow... I'm so motivated to do so much to my car now :D You're a true automotive avant-garde and your Z definitely sets the standard
|
thanks and good luck with you project
|
In pics it looks so easy do... very nice done
