Upgrading Bose Stereo Amp/Speakers - Factory Integration Solutions?
Not anytime soon, but I know down the road I'll be looking at upgrading the Bose stereo. I'd like to keep OEM look/functionality.
Some questions: - With the double-DIN kit, I know you can retain the use of your steering wheel controls via the PAC adapter. Can this also be the case with the bluetooth controls? It may be too much to ask, but can you also use the factory mic near the rearview mirror, instead of routing the wire for the aftermarket mic? - Has anyone used the factory integration offerings from Alpine, JL, JBL, etc. to use aftermarket amps and speakers with the Touring package? - Finally, a more specific question: will the ring radiator tweets from an SPX-17PRO (Alpine) set fit comfortably in the stock dash locations? Thanks! |

Using a MTX RE-Q5 you can add new amps and speakers to your system. Here are just a few threads that have asked the same questions.
Aftermarket Deck with Bose speakers Adding more bass to Bose System?????? Audio System from scratch.. Bye bye Bose.. Advice wanted: Yanking the OEM Bose unit for something better?

Hmmm... none of those threads discuss using a RE-Q5/CleanSweep/other. I'll search a bit harder.
A pointed question is: do these factory integration solutions go before the Bose amp, or after? I'd love to be able to plug into the pre-amp signal, vice after it goes thru the big Bose EQ machine. |

They go after the amp. I know I at least talked about these in at least one thread if not all of them. The re-q can do before but I had read about problems doing that. Also unless you keep the factory head unit you will not be able to use teh factory mic and controls only the volume and all with a metra or pac steering wheel control.
