Default Possible to purchase OEM Nav 3rd party?

Hey Guys,

Pretty self explanatory in the title. I bought 40th Anniversary and wanted the OEM nav. The dealership told me they would do the install if I can find one standalone system because they apparently don't sell it. Anyone know of a way to get an un-installed system? Thanks!

I hate how full of **** dealerships are sometimes.

You can order the unit through any dealership parts department. How else would somebody replace one if it broke?

Here is a listing of the OEM components/part numbers in question: 280 Audio & Visual :: Body Electrical :: Genuine Nissan Parts :: 370Z Parts (Z34) 2009-2010 :: Nissan Parts, NISMO and Nissan Accessories - Courtesyparts.com

Honestly, it would be much more expensive than buying a better aftermarket unit and having a good car audio shop install it.

Yeah. I am just looking to make this car really factory feeling and liked how clean it looked. Is the best alternative the Eclipse AVN726 if I steered clear of the OEM option? Let's just say price isn't a factor but quality/features is #1.

Maybe look at a higher end Kenwood or Pioneer unit? I'm kinda partial to Kenwood as their NAV program uses Garmin maps.. super easy...

If money is no issue look at that DNX9960, 3D maps.. super cool

I believe you would have to replace the whole center part of the dash also.

True - the center stack is different between the Touring w/ and w/o Nav since the display moves up to the LCD high in the dash.

I'm in the same boat - about to pull the trigger on a 40th Z, but would like Nav (since it's relatively inexpensive compared to other cars). But the 40th color is a win for me.

WarmandSCSI: is there a place we can price the components? Or do I need to head to the dealer for that?

While I'm sure it'll be $$$ to buy the parts - they mostly look self contained. Something an owner can replace.

If you search around this has been asked before. It is not worth installing the oem nav system because of everything that is envolved. Look around you will find out would will have to add the bose amps the bose audio system and the speakers.

Check the link I gave above. If you click on the part numbers in the illustration or down below, you'll get prices (which are close to wholesale) and the option to buy.

The bose speakers and amps are different if you have Nav or not???? The 40th has all of the bose stuff in it already.

Ah did not know that, just keep in mind you will still have to find a way to get the gps antenna because it is integrated into the roof of the touring ones.

Yes, I know it'll be expensive - guess that's why I'm asking the prices. I'm sure it'll be WAY beyond practical to do something like that.

But looking at what the Nav Package adds, if you have the Touring model, the amp/speakers are already there (not so if you're base/NISMO). To add Nav it looks like the big pieces would be the head unit, LCD, and the control faces for radio and nav. I'd expect you'd be able to still use the tuner unit and amp on the Touring Bose package. Now, if you can use the existing harnesses - for economy sake, I'd pre-wire the same harness regardless of stereo trim to save costs, but you never know with car manufacturers these days.

Would this cost a pretty penny? I'd imagine quite a bunch. But it looks (on the surface, at least) it can be done reasonably painlessly - at least compared to other OEM designs.

Had my last response open for awhile (went AFK for a bit) - just saw the links to prices post (tks, WarmandSCSI!). As I feared, the head unit itself is almost $3700.

I'll price this out later - that'll be a tough pill to swallow, LOL. The majority (with BigAudio) is right here - $$$-wise, best to go aftermarket. But the cubby hole is gonna bug me down the road...

I know this thread is far dead, but I just found this and was wondering if anyone sees any glaring issues with it? Seeing as the overseas 40ths had the nav unit, I doubt you'd need half the stuff here. It looks to me like the OEM nav unit runs less than $1500 through this site...

The only way you can really know for sure is to pull your center dash and see if you have the wires there to hook up the system. Then before pulling the trigger to buy it I would find someone local that has the nav and ask to try and see if it will work on your car. (probably a hour or so to try this. if it has the wiring to accomidate the system it would be a simple plug and play but without seeing it I could not tell you if it would work.
