Polk db6501 and spacers?

Trying to get everything in line for the upgrade, but need to know if zen's are necessary for 6591 install?? If so, what diameter hole do I need?

F1loco 07-22-2010 12:08 PM

Anyone??

jpit 07-22-2010 12:26 PM

Which model are you driving? You will need the zens or a custom spacer if you have the 6x9 door speakers.

F1loco 07-22-2010 12:32 PM

6.5" round....mounting dept is 2", but don't know how much room I have behind the door frame for the window/frame, etc...I may order them to be sure I have enough room b/f the tear down if I can't confirm I'm good to go....

I just installed the first of two in a z. No problem with spacing without space rings. Pics in a pit.

Hey, that's my car ;)

Great install, and the Polks sounds awesome. (no spacers required)

Thanks Matt for an awesome install. :bowrofl:

F1loco 07-23-2010 07:42 PM

Apparently not....

NewYorkJon34 07-23-2010 08:22 PM

Cool, now I get to save $30, thanks everyone

ROC1ROB 07-24-2010 08:16 AM

Yeah but the above info will cost you $29.95. GL with your install.

NewYorkJon34 07-24-2010 08:36 AM

^damn the fineprint, lol Now I just need to find a place to buy the polks & dynomat for cheap $$$. Any suggestions? :)

bigaudiofanat 07-24-2010 09:04 AM

amazon, ebay, and woofersetc.com

If there is one thing I have seen is polk is very very good about honoring their warranty if anything were to happen.

Stay away from the lube.

Hey I saw these Polk/Momo speakers that look pretty sick. I noticed the depth is about an inch more then the db series, will I need the spacers for these or are the db's a better speaker? MM6 - Polk Audio 6.5" Momo Competition Component Set

bigaudiofanat 07-24-2010 02:21 PM

Yes you will for the mm series

NewYorkJon34 07-24-2010 02:37 PM

Will they sound better then the DB series if I run them off my headunit?

bigaudiofanat 07-24-2010 03:02 PM

They might. Any speaker is going to sound better with a external amp powering them. The db series can be ran well off a.head until maybe better than yous

NewYorkJon34 07-24-2010 03:27 PM

Better then the MoMo speakers?

bigaudiofanat 07-24-2010 09:44 PM

Not sure I use to run a set of momos can not say. I would say about the same

NewYorkJon34 07-24-2010 09:52 PM

That woofersetc site really is awesome, they have those Polk DB speakers for like a $100. Everywhere else i've only found them for like $200. I just don't know if the Momos are worth the extra $100

bigaudiofanat 07-24-2010 10:25 PM

If you are going to amp them go for the mm's the momos are the old series the new ones that took over are the mm's.

NewYorkJon34 07-24-2010 10:51 PM

oh ok, I guess I'll just go with the Polk DB's since I won't need spacers, $100 cheaper, and should sound much better then stock running off an aftermarket headunit (Kenwood DNX-5120).
