started my install

Hi,

I am about to get started on the install and am connecting the wireharness (70-7552) to the new HU's wiring...

so the harness has a sticker on the black wire that reads for subaru only...

should I not connect this to the black wire on the new HU's wiring?

Thanks,

bigaudiofanat 06-22-2010 03:46 PM

That is for the ground wire because nissan does not have a ground ire in the harness you need to take the black wire from the new head unit and ground it to a metal part of the car. I use one of the 4 bolts around the shift lever. Also ground your lime green wire for video bypass.

thanks Matt, you are the man!

so I have 2 more questions for you.. .I am seeing the installs you have done... how do I route the GPS and mic wire to the locations you have routed them to?

Thanks,
jay

Fist pull the weather stripping back around the door a pillars and take the tweeter cover off on the right for the antenna. After that you can route the wires threw that area and push the stripping back over top of the wires. For the mic place it in the plastic piece of the pillar and using a butter knife push the wire down and than fish it threw the side of the weather stripping on the left. Hope that helps clear it up for you.

thanks, yes it does... so for the antenna does the wire go from the back of the HU under the dash console to the door pillers?

you arent on aim today?

bigaudiofanat 06-22-2010 04:29 PM

The wire I would start from the antenna where it will be mounting and work back running the wire down the stripping under the kick panel above where your feet go and than up to the back of the head unit.

jayl 06-24-2010 12:08 AM

now....

I have the intelligent key light that stays on! and the tiny power light on the HU keeps flashing...

any thoughts?

Thanks,

bigaudiofanat 06-24-2010 07:53 AM

The light is a security feature to ward off theft. Not sure about the key in the dash.

I have this same question. According to the harness w/ my deck this is correct.

Does this mean I don't need any extra devices to kick on the factory amp?

Just connect this wire.

Sorry for the threadjack :koolaidwall:

The blue wire you use to turn on the radio antenna when the head unit is in radio mode. The blue and white wire you use to turn on any amps factory or aftermarket.

So I don't need this thing:

PAC SOEM-4 Universal 4-channel line output converter at Crutchfield.com

for a factory amp system. Just connect the blue/white P.Cont wire from the head unit to the remote turn on wire on the car harness?

:happydance:

You need that only if you are using your stock head unit "non bose" in order to install a aftermarket amp. If you are using a new aftermarket head unit you do not need that. If you are installing amps and speakers with a bose system you need a mtx req 5.
