Above is what I'm planning on doing in a couple of weeks, but I'm confused about how all the wiring fits together. It's always been HU -> Scoche wireing harness -> factory wiring for any previous install I've ever done. But where does the Pac SOEM-4 fit into the mix? Does it connect between the HU and the Scoche, or between the scoche and the factory wiring? Thanks for the clarification. :hello:

Signal Wires from HU: HU -> PAC -> Scoche Harness -> Factory.
Other Wires from HU: HU ->Scoche Harness -> Factory

Also keep in mind, some wires from the PAC (like power and ground) will connect to the Scoche Harness.

Diablokev is correct. My biggest problem was getting everything to fit back into the dash.
I think someone in this thread said it was not important to have the PAC. I would have to disagree. When I originally had the pack installed I did not tune the PAC(line outs) adn sound became very distorted with alot of white noise in the back round. After I "tuned"the line outs the sound quality is great ( I think much better than factory )

I also had an issue fitting it all back there. I ended up not screwing back in the lower HVAC control box and place the PAC in that area. I then put that beige box somewhere else. It all fit better.

Thanks guys! It's always better to have everything you need before you start a project like this.

Interestingly enough, as I was asking you guys about the LOC, I also emailed Crutchfield with the same question. The guy told me all I would need to get it to work right was:
Nissan/Subaru Receiver Wire Harness For select 2007-up Nissan and 2010-up Subaru models at Crutchfield.com

You'd think if there were HU's frying right and left from bad installs, they would know about it.

I'll probably still pick up one to be safe. I remember in my old RSX, I just bypassed the BOSE amp entirely.

here's what it looks like when it's all said and done:

I think the install would have been OK without the PAC for awhile, but over time I think problems would developed. The PAC also gives you more tuning and volume control. For $30 it was worth the extra time for the install and fitting.
When you order your wiring harness make sure it has a orange wire(not all do ) the orange wire is for day/night illumination for your new radio or auto dimming for night time. you can do without it but those touch screens can get pretty bright at night..
I actually picked up 2 wiring harnesses so I could pull some pins out of the extra harness and plug them in to the harness I would use for my install. this made installing the Axxess steering wheel controller much easier. i did not have to cut into the factory harness at all, just made sure I labeled the new pins on my aftermarket harnes to match up with the facory harness steering whell controlls. all wiring could be basicallly done outside the car and just plugged in during the install.

toxik 03-08-2011 08:08 PM

bump, has anyone been able to get the Metra ASWC to work with the Bose system? How was the wiring done?

chirowolf 03-09-2011 08:54 AM

Proper pin for your Z's audio wiring harness with Axxess

1 Attachment(s)
hope this comes through and may have been posted before, but this is the correct pin out for the Z. Axxess site is incorrect. If you want your access steering wheel controls work use the attached diagram for your Z wiring harness.:driving:

bigaudiofanat 03-09-2011 09:04 AM

Sorry that does not help, that is what I have wired all the bose systems to for the metra and got nothing.
