Default off axis or on axis

just ordered a set of pioneer ts-c720prs components. i understand the tweets can be a little harsh.

what is the optimal location to mount the tweets?
1) stock location to kill some of the supposed harshness.
2) on axis to have ultimate sound stage?

also anyone have pics of on axis mounting in the 370z?

I think you would have more harshness with the tweeters balring at your window and than coming at you. I think on axis would be my recommendation. Just where to put them I am not sure.

doesnt the crossover have different settings you can wire your tw up to?

if not i'd play with the EQ's on your HU, if that doesnt cut it, try different thickness cloth/felt over the tweeter (between the grill and baffle). that dampens sound considerably.

as big mentioned, i too would consider tweeter to be in phase with the mid range or woofer.

The tweets are harsh, Id mount them low on the door possibly and off axis. Its not the tweeter itself that is harsh, its the crossover that comes with the set thats the issue. If running active is a possibility its a night and day difference.
