For those with a Garmin (example Nuvi 1690) that have no integrated FM receiver/receiver in the power cable and with a USB connector a terrific way to hardwire your Garmin is with a Garmon Direct Wire Cable by Gilsson. Part#GUSB5V-B - . This cable can be had for about $24 and can be purchased from various vendors to include eBAY vendors. Very easy to install. On the 370Z it is easily to tap into the cigarette lighter on the passenger side.

And if the suction cup fails (and the one I'm using isn't Garmin's) I can just glue it. But I doubt I'll have to. So, I think I'm just fine with the way it is, thanks. |

Kones.... if you are not interested in the traffic receiver ability and want less hassle running power to the device then just forget using the Garmin provided cable and get the hard wire item I mentioned a few posts back. This will power your Garmin but of course no traffic receiver. Using a hard wire option as mentioned will leave you with your Garmin cable you can use on other vehicles/that is not out of use due to it being used in your dash..
Yes, 1690 is more expensive. Traffic ability on the 1690 is via a built in AT&T connect. Works very well/nice to have where ever AT&T works well. As for the suction device, letting loose is not just an issue with Garmin mounts. Time will tell for you. Did you get a 370Z vehicle for your Garmin. Go to the forum mentioned in the thread I mentioned earlier and ask mcbarri to do a yellow 370Z for you. |

I also grabbed one of the 370z icons already but it was after the pics, I'll probably ask for the yellow, too :-) |
