Talking Custom iPad Install Done with full tilt swivel! Videos inside.

Hey everyone,

I finally finished my custom iPad install in my car. I removed the entire upper cuddy and in its place I installed a black suede covered mounting plate on which the iPad cradle is installed on. The cradle has a tilt swivel base which allows me to rotate the iPAD from landscape view to vertical view.

I'll post a full DIY on how to do this later. Here is a quick video.

I'm actually speechless...that iPad looks massive in the car. Looking forward to the DIY!

Well that should end the debate on what gauge should replace the clock.

Posted a second video for everyone while I am working on the DIY to show the cradle and backing plate.

Thumbs up

I've used ProClip products for over a decade, and they are top-shelf—zero problems.

I am sure you probably remove the iPad from sight when you aren't in the car. But aren't you concerned that it kinda makes your car a high potential target for a break-in?

You have done a great job , but my opinion is that the i-pad is just 2 large to be in that location !!!! Maybe apple can cut one down to about 1/2 the size

Way to go! Looks way better than my set-up. I'm working with a custom shop right now to come up with something similar but only set up in portrait. Good job man!

I am not really concerned about safety as my Z is not a daily driver and I never have it just sitting around somewhere. I can't imagine it being anymore of a thief magnet than any other kind of iPod/iPhone/GPS holder. The iPad has to be removed whenever you leave the vehicle anyway as it cannot really withstand extreme temperatures which would be instant death here in TX.
