Default Polk MM6501 or Kenwood KFCP708 6 3/4 Component Speakers?

The Kenwoods have a broader frequency response:

The Polks have a slightly higher db sensitivity:

Thanks for any info. None of my local stores have either of these set up for me to listen to.

Hey DarkZ,

I actually have the Polk MM6501 components in my Z right now.

I cannot tell you how they compare to the other kenwood (cuz I haven't heard them).

But I can say that I "think" they sound pretty good. Subjective, of course.

Not having rear-fill (no rear speakers) is still weird to me, but the Polks sound pretty CRISP and LOUD. I definately recommend that you switch the -3db toggle on the cross-over, if you plan to get the Polks.

Speaking of cross-over, they have a "cheapish", "radio-shack-ish" look to them. Yes, you won't be staring at the boxes once you install it, but just kinda has that look. (Oh, and I think radio shack is pretty cool, but kinda "cheap-ish" with some stuff )

(I recently installed an infinity component set in an altima and those cross-over boxes look pretty high-tech.)

Anywhoo, I own the Polk components, and I think they work nicely.

the best set of components in your price range are the pioneers in the link. Search around for reviews online. They outperform sets that cost more than twice as much. Theyre so good that pioneer changed the cone color this year and marked the price up to a grand

Thanks for the input, fella's. I was kinda leaning towards the Polks just because I couldn't find alot of reviews on the Kenwoods. Now I kinda want to hear the Pioneers too. I guess I will do more investigating on

I just bought those Kenwoods and have the woofers in. Haven't put the tweeters in yet, but the sound is definitely better than stock. I'm not ultra-picky with my sound equipment though. Anything is better than stock.

Yeah, I don't want anything really extravagant but the stock system is really kinda ... well... terrible. I decided to go with the Kenwood DPX503 because it seems to be really clean as far as sound and output. 22 watts rms and 105 db cd signal to noise ratio should kinda rock on it's own. I wasn't interested in a touch-screen and wanted something that looked stock. Once I set the illumination to orange, the receiver should blend with the interior really well.

Kenwood DPX503 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

sonicelectronix had it for $80.00 cheaper than Crutchfield too.

Maybe I'll just buy both sets of speakers, hook'em up, and sell whichever ones I don't want on Ebay.
