Backup camera and Reverse light
Thank you everybody for all your help. I have one more ? and i will be all done with my install finally.
I bought the pioneer avh-p3200bt and the pioneer Nd-bc4 backup camera. I have everything working and installed, however when i put the car in reverse the radio isn't switching to the camera. i have the reverse light wire from the stereo tapped into the ORANGE wire of the tail light. I can turn the camera on manually, but obviously i want it for reverse. Any Ideas??? Thanks, Matt |
hummm... that's odd. if there a function on the HU you need to turn on or something? i have the previous gen 3100 and i did a few setup steps and it worked just fine.
might want to check and then re-check the tap itself. |

Also my headunit lets me mirror my image so that I can read license plates of cars behind me properly. Play around with the settings and I'm sure you will get it to work. Please keep us posted. :tiphat: |
yah, i think i had a screen like that on my 3100 as well.

HELP PLEASE.
Basically I just took apart my car again to make sure all the connections are correct. The only think i could possibly think of is that I need to tap into another wire besides the ORANGE one, or i have a broken head unit. I have played around with all the settings. any input will be of some help. thanks |
did you try running a 12v directly into that tap wire (for orange wire) and see if it switches over? if you are sure your HU setting is correct and 12v doesn't automatically switch it over, you got a failed unit.

Thanks everyone. I finally got it working. the wire tapper that i used to get into the reverse light never actually tapped the wire, it didn't cut through the insulation. Thanks for all you help. Will post pics later after i was the car. thanks again

Ya I never liked or never use wire taps, I splice the insulation and solder the wire directly to the other wire. This way the connection is much more reliable.

if you use the right taps you shouldn't have this problem... they are color coded for the gauge wire used. sounds like the OP just used the bigger t-tap.
