Problem with Satelite XM Radio?
Just got the car, and I can't find any info regarding the Sat/XM radio on the OEM unit. My problem is that when I turn on SAT, only 2 channels appear, the preview channel and a news channel. Does anyone know if this means it is not activated in the car or can I fix this somehow on my own?

Your XM radio has not been activated. You get a 3 month free trial period then 1st year (single year purchase plan) after that is about $164.00. If you have another XM radio subscription they can combine your Z radio with that subscription and then you will pay about $100 per year for the XM radio in your Z.
While sitting in your Z, call XM (800) 967-2346 and go through the cue to tech support. They will be able to tell you how to get the vehicle XM radio ID to display on the radio and then activate the XM radios 3 month trial period. Other option is to go back to the Nissan dealer and have them do the drill to activate the XM radio. NOTE: For those picking up that new vehicle if the dealership activated that XM radio say weeks before you are loosing some/lots of YOUR 3 month trial period. A call by you to XM customer service (800) 967-2346 when your 3 month suddenly ends and then you telling them the date you took actual vehicle delivery will net you XM customer service giving you the part of the 3 month trial you got screwed out of. |

Forgot to mention.... usually a week or three 8-) after you take delivery of a new vehicle with XM that a dealer has activated the vehicle owner will get in the mail a card that has the XM radio ID# on it, a note Welcoming you to XM Radio and a list of different subscriptions you can purchase after your 3 month trial ends. With this info in hand -- the radio ID# specifically you can then go to XM's website and set up an account. Once you establish an account you can purchase your subscription and much more there. Here is XM's internet address-- XM Satellite Radio - America's #1 Satellite Radio Service
By the way Sirius works the same way. |

XM does NOT clearly volunteer/promote this info about combining accounts and that is why I am making this post. Read on..
An XM subscription, any of the ones offered can be pricey. A one year subscription for your Z's XM for example can run you $164+. Do know that if you have an existing XM radio subscription on another XM radio that you can contact XM and have them "combine" your subscriptions and you will SAVE lots and lots of $ on your subscription. As mentioned earlier, XM does NOT clearly volunteer this info about combining accounts and that is why I am making this post. ALSO, for those guys/gals that have parents, spouse with an XM subscription for say a car or office XM system you can have your XM combined with theirs (under there account) and then you again will pay say $100 for a year of XM versus $164.00 per year. Since it is a subscription that you pay upfront, hand your Dad / Mom / spouse the $100 cash and have them "combine" your Z's XM radio to their account and presto you save over $64+. Of course you can also get a better monthly if you "combine" and then go with lifetime or multiple year subscriptions versus a year subscription. Your choice on how to handle a subscription. SO, in closing save lots of $ by "combining" your Z's XM radio account with an existing XM radio account and you will save big time! Note: to do the combine of account call XM customer service at (800) 967-2346. You will need the XM radio's ID that you want to combine with and the XM radio's ID that you are combining to it. Also knowing their XM account number can speed things up but they can can to an XM account just by telling them an XM radio ID#. |
