Swapping out the subs for the Nissan 370Z Stealthbox by JL Audio and upgrading the Amp and I would like to remove it for a bit of weight savings. |

Why not just get a ZEnclosure and add your own subs? The JL stealth box looks way overpriced.

900 bucks for 2 10w3s in a not so stealth enclosure?? Id get the Zenclosure and a single 12w6v2. The output is grat and I think its their best sounding sub. Youd still have enough money left to buy an amp and wiring as well.

Jut get the z enclosure the JL is way to expensive and this way you can run the sub you want top run.

The major issue with Zenclosers use of 3/4 inch MDF board and the weight, whats the use of lighting a sports car then adding another 60-80lbs. of MDF board
The JL box is 10lbs or so of fiberglass. They sound great too. |

But the price and if you are that worried about weight you would strip the car, or lose weight yourself or not have a audio system at all. The weight I can not see making that much of a difference to the normal driver.

Exactly, If you are serious about track racing your Z you wouldnt even be considering putting a big subwoofer system in there.
I have to agree with Big on this, adding up to a 100 pounds to the car will not even be noticible. I have proabably added at least that in just my sound deadning. I inadvetantly counteracted a lot of the weight I added when I removed the rear spare tire and changed out my entire exhaust system. I know my Stillen exhaust is much lighter than the stock exhaust and suprisingly the stock CATs were really heavy compared to the HFCs I put in. I am still slightly heavier than stock but ask me if I really care?

Nissan went to great lengths to balance the Z, adding (I'm guessing at the weight of the MDF board) 1/2 to 3/4 of a sheet of 3/4 inch MDF board would be at least 60 lbs. the stealth box is 10 lbs of fiberglass in the rear of the car.
I find many people replacing the Intakes an Exhaust at what some people would call expensive to help the cars performance, why would you worry about money if you can drop 50lbs of weight. Don't forget the box has speakers in it for the $900 price tag I haven't broke the cost down for the box itself, but don't forget there are high end JL components in the box as well as the speakers. If you have a choice between premium 91 octane and 94 octane would you complain about the cost or get the gas that would help the cars performance ? Money isn't an issue for me I was more interested in not adding to weight in the rear of the car, that's why I was searching for the 8th speaker to remove it,an happily someone let me know where it was |

Here's another option if you're interested. WickedCAS (sponsor on here) has a fiberglass piece that fits over the spare tire. 14-16 pounds.
