My plan for some bass...
Just ordered my Zenclosure box with a 12" cutout (1.18ft3 sealed box). I'm planning to start small (use my existing equipment), then move on to bigger and better things.
Initial setup: Infinity Perfect 12" 4 ohm svc powered by a Best Buy version of Rockford Fosgate 250aii (250rms when bridged). The future: I'm strongly looking at the following subs (i'd like to keep it under $200, but i've listed some models that are higher than that): FI SSD 12" 1 ohm dvc ($179) FI Q 12" 1 ohm dvc ($244) Image Dynamics ID12D4 V.3 4 ohm dvc ($179) Image Dynamics IDQ12V3. D4 4 ohm dvc ($279) Ascendant Audio Arsenal 12" 4 ohm dvc (no clue on cost) Ascendant Audio Chaos 12" 1 ohm dvc (no clue on cost) Ascendant Audio Havoc 12" 2 ohm dvc (no clue on cost) Amps I'm considering: Audioque AQ1200D run at 2 ohm ($249) Hifonics Brutus BRZ 1200.1 run at 2 ohm ($279) Sundown SAZ-1000D Run at 2 ohm ($315) My goals: SQ first and foremost, and i really enjoy super low frequencies. But i don't mind being able to melt peoples brains on the side. What would be the best setup for SQ and hitting the super low frequencies? I'll also take suggestions for different ohm setups, but I want best SQ first.

Id run an IDQv3 or an FI Q in that enclosure. keep in mind you need to run a subwoofer that will work well in around 1 cube. If your main concern is SQ first you should be worreid abourt upgrading your front speakers and spendong the majority of your budget there. On a side note, I have a new IDQ12v3 id let go for 160 shipped ( shameless plug)

If you want super low bass than I suggest a ported enclosure tuned to 20 to 25 hz. Your Infinity Perfect sub is a good sub and I personaly would roll with it and port that badboy.
You wont need a 1000 watt amplifier! The Amplifier you have now will work fine for now, but I highly recommend finding a Phoenix Gold Bass Cube. This little unit will protect your sub from subsonic frequencies and allow you to eq your sub and boost its sweet spot. This unit is worth its weight in gold, no pun intended. I will warn you! You need to learn how this unit works and DONT over power your sub otherwise you will be left with a blown sub. This is coming from experience as I have had to have a few JL subs rebuilt from getting to over zealous. The combination of a ported box tuned low, Bass Cube, a good 12" sub, and 250 watts rms will deliver absolutely mind blowing sub bass! A sealed 15 inch sub will not even come close even at twice the power. Ported boxes are very efficient and can play much lower than a sealed box if they are tuned for it. A big misconception is that ported boxes are boomy and not accurate. This is not true if you build your box correctly. Some of the very best sub bass I have ever experienced is from a ported enclosure. A properly built ported box will sound very smooth and transparent and you will feel lows that you never thought were possible from a 12" sub. If you provide me the Thiel Small Parameters of your sub I will model you the correct size of box and correct size and diameter of the port and each one of your goals you listed will be met! As far as ohms, I don't recommend going below 2 ohms or your asking for trouble down the road. A dual 4 ohm sub wired in parallel @ 2 ohms would be optimal for your current amplifier. Any lower than that and you will be buying a new amplifier within 2 months.

The sub is dual 4 so it is perfect for your application, out of the amps you listed Id use the audioque. Its the same zenon based board as the sundown and they'll put out very similar power. Go with whats cheaper

Sweet. If you get a chance, and this is strictly out of curiousity, can you weigh it? I can't find a weight for ID subs anywhere.

cpl pics for you,I had to use my blackberry, you'll note that there is black tape on the back of the basket, I put that on to help seal the sub in its enclosure. unfortunately I never got to use it also the subs weigh just under 16 lbs

Speed is offering you a pretty decent deal on a really good sub. If you buy it, you definitly should port this sub. The Zenclosure box I believe is 1.5 cu ft which will tune to 30Hz with a 3" X 8.30" port. I would make sure its flared at both ends. You can buy them at Parts-Express.com - Speakers, Speaker Building, Home Audio and Video, Pro Audio, Electronic Parts & Accessories PARTS EXPRESS, Speakers, Speaker Parts, Guitar speakers, Bass speakers, Woofers, Drivers, speaker upgrades and replacement speakers. Emine.
This sub will hit really low in that box while still sounding as good as it would sealed but with less upper bass. I am glad to see that ID finally ditched the cheap, old-school stamped steel baskets. http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/pdf/...20D2%20v.3.pdf
