Default Bridging The amplifier

The jl audio 500/5 has the 2 rear channels and two front channels at different wattage ratings. Without looking i think the fronts are 125x2 and the rears are 50x2 and then the sub output. I have not decided on the rears yet ,may or may not go with them. One suggestion was to bridge the channels and use no rears. With that being said my question is can the left and right be bridged being diff wattage outputs. I know front and rear can be bridged but that will have different wattage for one channel (125x2) bridged will be a lot stronger than (50x2).
Im just trying to get the most out of my amp without leaving the rear channels unused ??? Any suggestions ??

Hmm I was just checking out the manual for this amp.

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/Slash_amps/500_5_MAN.pdf

I dont know if what you are describing can be done with that amp, it seems like you can only bridge the front L/R channels together to be 200wx1 and the rear L/R channels together at 50wx1.

My suggestion would be to throw that 500/5 on ebay and order yourself the 900/5 It can do the front/rear bridging with equal power outputs.

You can only bridge pairs of outputs, IE. Front Left and Front Right. Or Rear Left and Rear Right.

Amplifiers aren't wired internally to support what you're talking about (Bridging Front Right and Rear Right).

The fact that the output wattage is different is a non-issue.

My kicker zx 700.5 has the front and rear left bridged, and the front and rear right bridged. Made a huge difference over the four channel app.

Yes I thought so too since I've never been able to do this with my other systems either.

Well actually that is the issue, like for instance, I have the 900/5 on order thru wickedCAS. The 900/5 front outputs are 150w bridged, the rear outputs are 150w bridged. I plan on using the front outputs to run the left channel, and the rear outputs to run the right channel.

I believe the OP wants to do the same thing, but on his 500/5, the front channel bridged is 200w, the rear channel bridged is only 50w. Thats kind of a problem.

I see what you're saying. Makes sense to do that for more power, he's just kind of in a pickle with that miss-match.

500/5 is not ideal dor bridging, however you can run the 500/5 Bi-amp..

Meaning if your Component set (speakers) have a bi-amp mode on the passive crossover that came with your components. You can run the 100Wx2 of the 500/5 to the mids and run the 25X2 of the amp for the tweters. Your crossover will have a "Mid in" and "Tweeter in" markings for this to work. You then use the regular outputs on the crossover...
