Disable motion/speed sensor?

Has anyone found out how to disable the speed/motion sensor that prevents you from operating the nav screen while moving? I'd desperately love to know how to accomplish this

There was a company that made a kit for doing this in the 350Z's and G35's... the name escapes me though.

I think there are a few threads about this including one that shows how to do it.

Is the hack implementing a switch that allows me to disable the sensor temporarily while I operate the nav screen then switch it back on so the GPS will actually work? I don't want to have a jerky GPS or a non-functioning GPS as a result of this hack.

I don't care for watching video while driving, I just want to be able to type an address onscreen or browse the menus to find a caller.

@z370z: Nah-uh .

The switch works as it should - it simply cuts the the vehicle speed sensor. My installer did say that grounding the parking brake was not the correct way, he put 2 relays on it instead, otherwise your radio will always think your parking brake is engaged. Not sure what the harm in that is but I guess being able to turn it on and off with a switch is better than completely cutting it and grounding it.

Anyways, your GPS won't be jerky at all. In fact, when you the switch is on, the screen doesn't move at all, the GPS thinks your sitting still. When you turn it off, you have to wait a bit for the GPS to poll the satellites to "find you" again.
