Back Speakers

Hey guys. I have 2010 PG A7 Base w/ Sport Pgk and Im going to upgrade the stereo. Im going with a Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD headunit and Im trying to decide if I want to put rear speakers in. I don't have rear speakers now and wanted to know if I really do need rear speakers? Can I get just as much sound with just the front speakers. Im also going with a Bazooka 6 1/2 inch amp'd base tube. I don't need a real loud boom'n system, so Im not going to use an amp for the speakers. So again, do ya think I need rear speakers?

Thanks guys.

i haven't spent much time in the audio section, but when i've randomly clicked the top threads, i read a few times that the rear speakers actually ruin the (insert word here). i don't recall what it was, but it was probably by bigaudiofanat. he seems to be pretty knowledgeable with audio. i'd pm him or do a quick search.

either way, i plan on getting rears for mine when i upgrade the fronts just because it's weird to me knowing there's a grill back there without a speaker behind it.

are you going with pioneer speakers as well?

I would highly recommend saving your money and put the money you saved towards something else. Rear speakers in a 2 seater car is not worth it. You are going to get much better quality sound from just front speakers in the z.

"Was probably me who recommended it."

Im confused...sorry, but how will I get much better sound with just two speakers? Wouldn't it sound better with four speakers?

Because your rear speakers are not colliding with the sound from the front. Plus when music is recorded in 2 channel stereo not 4 channel surround. SQ setups are all about front stage audio not rear. Even in my car a civic I removed the rear speakers. With rear speakers right at your ear your ears and mind are not sure where the audio is coming from. A better front stage is better than having surround speakers.

In such a small interior having high quality front stage and no rear "fill" speakers is perfect. Theres nothing wrong with installing rear speakers if thats what you want but HIGH quality mids and tweets properly amplified in the front only is the best way to go imo.

I personally normally like rear speaker fill. The problem is that you can only put a pretty small speaker in the rear, which I did, and now I turn the fader on full front. It sounds bad with tiny speakers in the rear. I was never happy with my system, and couldn't figure out why until I put the fader full forward.

just leave them out.

OK...it looks like Im just going to go with front speakers, but Im not going with an amp. Just going to use power that the Pioneer head unit supplys. My last system, I didnt use an amp and I loved the sound... I had a Pioneer dvd head unit with pioneer speakers and a base tube in my last car. Now I have to figure out what speakers to go with. Any suggestions with the setup that Im using? I was looking at Infinity, Arc Audio, and JL Audio speakers.

bigaudiofanat 04-07-2010 08:03 AM

Yeah, Im not going with an amp. My last system, I just did a Pioneer head unit with Pioneer speakers with a base tube and it sounded great....and I did not have an amp.

Looks like Im going with Arc Audio comp speakers. Anyone heard of them?

bigaudiofanat 04-07-2010 01:44 PM

Arc audio speakers are something I have not experienced but there amps are good. Can not say much for there speakers I think the polk dbs would run better with the head unit. Look for a set that has a high efficiency rate the higher that is the louder the speakers will get without much power.

Just wanted to say thanks everyone for the help.
