Apple iPad Head Unit Installation
this is very cool.....could this be the future for Head Units??
Video: World's first Apple iPad in-car installation looks pretty clean — Autoblog |
It actually looks better, when its mocked up, than I thought. Is it able to sound as good as a dedicated audio unit though?
|
Looks pretty cool. DEFINITELY need an anti-glare screen protector.... It'll help with greasy finger syndrome too :p
|
knew it would happen but didn't realize it would happen this quick. nice, the bit-one is an amazing processor too
|
now somebody buy an ipad and let me install it in their z
|
This is one killer Amp……OK, who is going to bash Mcintosh?
Amazon.com: Mcc406m - Mcintosh 6 Ch 4x50 Watt and 2x100 Watt Amplifier: Electronics |
its definately a sexy amp but for 2 grand I could think of a ton of other amps Id run
|
I have auditioned them and they arent any better than a JL HD or PG Z series. Your paying all that extra money for that extra 5% nth degree of cleanliness that honestly I didnt notice. I felt the amp was a little soft on the bass but that could have been more of a character of the speakers. Your truly paying for the name!

looks nice, but only useful if you have 3g internet with it IMO
also, i question how well you will see the screen in bright sun, the reflections would drive me nuts, especially when its off and thieves broke into my g35 for a 199$ GPS unit...... unless you have a clever way if hiding this, expect the same fate |
So how do you sync the iPad with any other device that contains all your media? I hope it has a quick release. And I agree...not having 3G is a huge FAIL. Makes it useless unless you park in front of a Starbucks.

The idea of this is good in concept, but will not work overall. It has a pretty screen and runs a nice UI, but beyond that it is very limited and you could easily achieve the same idea cheaper, with more functionality. |
All in all, the ideas pretty sick...i mean you pretty much have a mobile...everything in one place...and if you did get the 3G version..hold the phone, because all you really need are toilets in the seats and your set! :driving:

Late to the party but looks nice.

I want to see an HP Slate in a dash.

I rather have the HP slate because its actually a 16:9 screen so it actually is more aesthetically pleasing and it would be easier to fit in the dash. For CDs you could always put a cheap receiver on the bottom considering there is so much room in the 370z
|
I do not think you could mount the ipad nor the slate landscape in a z, not enough room but vertical you probably could.
|
I like the Idea, if you're gonna make a custom dash Id keep a single din cd player as well as the ipad. I just like the Idea of creating a mobile office using one and not needing other components like if you were to use a carputer.
|
if you want to make a carputer you could always go to MP3Car.com and they can lead you in the right direction.

It should be out soon (I'm waiting impatiently too), but I read somewhere that HP had a prototype slate back in 2007, but it would have cost over $2500 to produce. |
If its only going to cost about $500, than i would rather buy it because it already looks better, and it might be easier to fit in the dash since it is a bit smaller, plus it has widescreen

Pretty Cool idea.
I would rather do a 4G mifi ,the a 3G shitty At&T connection. |
Yeah you just save some money and say screw the 3G iPad and get the Mifi or equivalent. Mobile hotspot win!
|
Idk which network the slate can use with it's SIM slot, but it may only support AT&T like the ipad.
|
No info yet, but SIM slot is basically any GSM network in the world currently, but until we learn what frequencies it will support we can just assume (in the US) AT&T & T-mobile.
