Default Stock Component Speaker Position

I had some BA components installed and the installer didn't want to put the tweeters in the stock location. He advised me that the woofer and the tweeter should be on the same plane for optimum sound. Obviously I was devastated as any other location meant cutting into my door at one place or another. I had only seen one person put the tweeter anywhere other than the stock location and I hadn't heard any scuttlebutt on the forum regarding the stock location being less than optimum.

Well he put the tweeters close to the woofer and he made it look as stock as possible. The sound is great, but then again it better be as it's too late to make any changes really but I'm not displeased at all, just curious as to you guys' thoughts, particularly you audio guys out there.

-I had planned on having BigA do my install but he seemed busy with the 7 series and I was tired of seeing all the equipment sit in my living room.

I personally don't think it looks bad, but it is your car and if you wanted them in the stock location they should have put them there.

I didn't mean to make it sound like he did it against my wishes, we discussed it prior, I just hadn't had time to vet it here before it got done.

Doesn’t look bad or intrusive.

Wish I knew you were looking for an installer, Ive been doing custom installs for years and am very good with fabrication and glass work. From an imaging standpoint what the installer did is for the best if you are using the passive crossovers however they would have been fine in the stock location.

Well even though we didn't get to do business with the install, I would appreciate your input/opinion later in the week when I get the custom box installed, it's in for paint right now but I should be pickin' it up Wednesday. I'd be tooling around in my car right now 'cept there is not bottom to my sound without the subs.

Not a problem, I'm always glad to help. What sub or subs are you going with?

Think we decided on 2 8" kickers. Gonna ask the guy to forward me a couple pictures of it unfinished and I'll post.
