aftermarket nagivations....
long story short. my 370Z has no factory navigation... so i want one.:eekdance:
is there any good in-dash navigation that supports all goodies?? If there is one you like the most, what is it? and what would u recommend to other? any details would be great help to me  thanx |
this will be moved to its appropriate section. But do have have the Bose or lesser stereo?
|
i got a pioneer bt700 i like it...
the navi on it is kinda hit and miss sometimes, but it still gets you where you need to go. |
Just out of curiosity. How often do you really use your navi? I use my Garmin maybe once every couple of months.

I just ordered a Kenwood DNX6960 which is enroute. Having researched everything, my feeling is that it has the best navigation (Garmin) with all the options available. In my situation, I've ordered the steering wheel control harness, traffic receiver, Sirius receiver, backup camera, and iphone harness. The unit also streams music over bluetooth, controls an iphone with the harness attached, includes Parrot Bluetooth (one of the best). Overall, it's the whole ball of wax. There is a DNX9690 model that adds some fluff like 3D buildings in the nav, DD 5.1 surround sound, etc but it costs about 2/3 more than the 6960.
I'll post a nice review and video of usage once it's installed. Going in on April 17. |

pioneer units are the best in the market. without knowing if they fit in there or not, id recommend the pioneer f series
|
THis is why I won't buy a car without factory nav. It just looks so much classier...

I read a lot of reviews where Pioneers had problems. The best reviews have come from the Kenwood DNX5140 (no bluetooth) and DNX6140 (bluetooth). I'm actually thinking about getting the latter myself.

I use a TomTom - the best IMO. I bought an extender so I can stick it to the left side of my front windshield and tap the screen with my left-hand fingers without my hand leaving the steering wheel. These portable GPS systems are far better (again IMO) since you can connect them to you computer and upload different screen colors, latest POIs etc. without having to buy expensive DVDs. TomTom charges nothing for the 1st year for map updates and $80 or so thereafter. Plus when a fancier GPS comes out I can give my wife the old one and get the latest and greatest for myself :happydance:

Who will be the first to put a unit in the center cubby!?

I even have the screen tilted towards me. I love the setup. It's like Garmin and Nissan designed the cubby together. No drilling for me. Oh, and it gets perfect satellite signals from inside the cubby as well, free FM traffic monitoring. I was thinking of buying a few of them now in case mine broke, or they change the dimensions. |
i personally dont like the interface for tomtom, has old garmin in the other car, i think kenwood will be my choice then :)

And I thought it would be hard to see the navi since the cover is poped out. u know, it does not go in-ward when its opened, does it? |
it may be unlikely that a aftermarket system will be in the cubby anytime soon; it took quite a while for someone to put one in a 350Z, and it was impossible to do it with any double-din from what i heard; the only way it was done was through the building of custom carputers. there was no way to fit the depth of a double-din in there, so people were building systems that utilized thin LCD touchscreens in the cubby.

I think if you want a double din then you need to mount it where the stock radio is and if you want additional items (HKS Camp II or something) then a simple screen up top will fit easily. |

use the cubby for a touchscreen monitor and there is a program out there that can throw different gauges on the screen and you will be able to interact with it but its pretty expensive. It would be great if it wasnt so expensive.
