stock speaker wire color config.
Hey guys,
There is a green wire and a purple wire for the stock base non bose speakers. Which of the two is the positive? Thanks in advance. |
Um, I take it you cut your harness on your z?
If that is the case take a volt meter and check the wires to see which one is the +. If these are the wires on your head unit harness the purple is for revers video an the green should be grounded to be able to watch video while the car is in motion. |
i didn't cut the harness. i just took off the door panels to start on the project and am getting rid of the preliminary issues. there is no way to tell which one is + just by looking and i thought someone would know.

If the speaker plug only fits one way then you can use the factory speaker as reference. Get a AA battery and tape a wire lead to each side of the Battery. Take the two leads and connect to the factory speaker. If it pushes out then you have positive to positive, if it pulls in then it is reversed.
|
Your best way to do it is to run new wires threw the door panels and start over. But if you want to sue your stock wiring, look at the connectors you cut one of the connectors should be bigger than the other, that one is your + or look on the speaker itself for the polarity.

If you look in the service manuals on here, they can tell you which wires are what, and what is (+) and (-). I used the manual to do this back in January so I it works.
