Subwoofer Size Opinions
Just sold my jl audio 10w7 last night to free up cash for a zenclosures and new sub. Question is what size and how many lol.
I have only had 10's, never 12's or 8's Do i go 2 8's? Do I go 1 12? Or do I go 1 10? Going 2 8's kind of intrigues me. I think it cold sound nice, but I listen to a lot of hip hop and trance so I dont know if they can slam like I want. Will 1 12 be comparable to 2 8's? I dont now...Maybe someone one the forums can clarify for me BTW, in all sizes im going JL, dont ask why, its just what I like. |

What is your budget? How loud do you want it? What music do you listen to? What kind of amp do you have?
And going with JL okay but you will have a lot more options if you opened your options to other brands.

I would go with a single 12 but you are going to want more power than what your current amp is providing.

A pair of 8's should give you similar output to a single 12, they only have slightly less total cone area. The 12" should easily extend a little lower but its all personal preference. THe 8w3 is a solid little sub. And 300 at 2 ohms is plenty of power for a single 12w3
