Got the box and 10" Kenwood sub yesterday. Took it to a local stereo shop because I was lazy and got raped on the install. They broke the clips on the rear hatch plastic off and charged me $50 more than they quoted. :(
At the moment I think the sub sounds a little gutless... no punch... and makes me worry that I should have spent the money on the 13". I've only listened to two and a half songs so far though. I'll set up the EQ up and take a little drive tonight to see about breaking in that new surround. :) |
I take back what I said about the sub being gutless. Take out the carpet and it sounds great. :) Time to do some customization.

Hey All:tiphat:
I just got the sub box recently. On a test fit, I noticed that the "car seat hook" seems to be in the way of the sub box. Thus it does not seem to sit flush. I was wonder if the other folks noticed this as well. I took some pics but cannot find the SD to USB adapter cable to transfer to my computer...:( Thanks, :hello: |

Make sure when you position the box inside the spare, you loosen the hold down bolt. once you have it in place you can then slowly take the box back out and then tighten the hold down. Plecement of the spoare is crucial for a perfect fit. It will be almost flush not 100% flush. http://www.wickedcas.com/gallery/d/11691-3/DSCN4914.JPG http://www.wickedcas.com/gallery/d/11655-3/DSCN4883.JPG |

So for what its worth, I installed this stuff this past weekend too.. just my thoughts on this.. I did the 13TW5 and enclosure, with the 900/5 amp.
The enclosure itself is great, super light and seems well put together. The fit for the sub is absolutely perfect, and the rim where you screw down the sub has wood underneath so the screws have something to bite into. The enclosure came pre-wired with 16Gauge wire, but I opted to go a little bigger, and used the 16g wire to pull a 10gauge pair through the enclosure. Putting 500watts through 16gauge wire didn't seem right to me. With the enclosure in the spare tire, it seems to sit little high... like a good inch above the styrofoam pieces on the sides, seems like I'd have to build up those side areas a little to make the floor completely flat. Right now I have it in there without the spare, which seems better.. I cut a hole for the sub in the thin carpet and it looks pretty good. You'd have to rub your hand across the carpet to notice its not 100% flush. Now the most important thing, the sound.. that 13TW5 sub hits super hard. For a shallow sub, I was really amazed how good that thing sounds.. definitely better than the 2 10w3's I had back there previously. Overall I'm happy with the way it came out.. nice job WickedCAS. |
whats the current wait time on a box? i would be putting the JL 13tw5 in it. thanks!
