Default Installing Viper 5301 Starter/Alarm: need info from the experts

Viper - Viper 5301 Responder LE 2-Way Remote Start System

I bought the viper 5301 unit and was wondering if anyone knew whether the remote could completely replace the OEM fob (meaning can i only carry the Viper remote and be able to open the doors and trunk using the buttons on the actual door handles, and would it detect when the key is in the car for the push start etc...), or will i always have to carry both remotes?

i also got this unit, im assuming its all i need to get the viper installed in the Z!?

and anyone have any reviews for this unit?

I am sure if you had the electric know how - you could integrate the keyfob into the viper start ... but would take some looking at circuits otherwise - keep both around... and DO NOT leave your key fob in the car lol

Does not sound easy! But it would be nice to see! But if it was lost or stolen thats alot of money and work down the drain.

I had the 5901 LE on my 08 Z and that's part of the reason it got wrecked because the remote start feature for manual transmission vehicles had a killsafe for if it was in gear but didn't work when the kid at the dealership hit it while it was in gear. I can't see why you would even want to mess with that thing honestly. GL with this though, will be interesting to see what happens.

PS: It was installed by a shop that is a Viper alarm dealer.

I think you would, unless you took the sensor out of the stock remote and put it in the vipor, but I have not clue if that is possible. Also not sure how the stock sensor sends its signal to the car, might be something to look into and see if a system is out there that supports it and can be programmed.
