Aftermarket navi Install.. Kenwood 5140.. No horn or beeps with locking!!
I just put in a Kenwood DNX5140 in my brand new 40th anniversary edition 370z... The intallation was almost a complete success however the SWI-pac does not work for there is nowhere to plug the output of the harness into the navigation unit... Any suggestions..??? The stereo sounds great with the Ipod integration as well as the bluetooth kit... I have the bluetooth connected with the propper dip switch positions, but the unit will not recognize the bluetooth box, meaning it will not give me a bluetooth menu in the setup option... Any Suggestions? Last and final, now that the installation is complete I noticed there are two square plugs that go into the factory stereo however there is noplace to adapt them into the new headunit, one I know is for the xm for which I am not worried about, the other I think is for the onboard security system which controls the horn and beeps when you lock and unlock... Long story short, the car will no longer beep or honk when the car is locked via key fob or push button on door...
ANY SUGGESTIONS???????? |

Only assurance I can give you is that everything works with the 5140. Maybe bigaudiofanat can help you out...once you have everything figured out please let me know if video off of itunes works with your headunit with the ipod video cable if that's the cable you have installed.

If there is no plug that means it does not support using a wired remote which is what the pac is. Your only option is to buy a different head unti or not use the sterring wheel controls.
What plugs did you disconnect?

I figured out why my steering wheel controls are not working... there is not a mini phono plug on the back of any kenwood HU, there is a blue w/yell stripe wire coming out of the PAC with the mini phono cable, the blue and yell wire goes to the remote cont wire on the back of the kenwood, so that problem is solved on that part... I am going to my audio guy today to upgrade to the 6160, the 5140 doesnt function nearly as well as i thought it would as well as doesnt function with the bluetooth 100%... So I am just going to return the 5140 and upgrade to the 6160 which already has the bluetooth built in, so that kills 2 birds with one stone....
The one thing I would really like to solve is that the car does not beep or honk upon locking or unlocking with the key fob or door button.... There has to be a fix to an aftermarket HU working with the factory alarm system... Because when you plug the factory HU back in with the 2 extra plugs that arent used with the aftermarket HU, everything works properly... ANY IDEAS??? |

lol........I can almost guarantee you that it wasn't the headunit.
Try this, Take your keyfob out. Then press the Lock and Unlock Buttonand Hold. It will cycle through the lock cycles. There are I believe 3 settings when you lock the car. beep and lights flickering. Just lights flickering. and then nothing. Try it
