Budget 4 Channel Amp Install

Whats up guys! Well almost every thread in this audio forum is the same "I want the best audio system" "I hate the Bose" lol something like that...

So I have a Base model speaker system and don't want to change the radio and don't really have the extra money to buy a new component setup to replace the stock speakers. So I was thinking of just adding a 4 channel amp with a very small rms - under 50 watts (stock speakers) - would I notice a difference with this or will I just over-power the speakers and blow them soon.

Or has anyone done this alone and liked the results?

I just bought the Berk CBE so Id rather hear that anyways.

I think I can help you some. I wanted to get as good as I thought on the cheap. So I bought Pioneer 6.75" TS-D's for the fronts, a Pioneer 10" shallow sub, Alpine MFR-300 amp, an Audio Control LS6. I will run channels 1/2 to the front which is 50 watts per channel. Leaving the rear speakers hooked up to the Bose amp. Channels 3/4 are getting bridged to the sub for 150 watts. I started working on this two weekends ago but it snowed that weekend and I couldn't get my car up my street. Then I had to go out of town for work and I've been in AL for two weeks. If I can finally leave tomorrow night I should be able to finish it up this weekend. However, it's supposed to snow here in Tuscaloosa and I might not even be able to leave even if I wanted to. Anyway, I located those components as cheap as possible and it cost me about $440 (doesn't include the MDF to build my box, wiring, etc.). I'm expecting big results with this and will let you know.

Why would you even leave the bose rear speakers hooked up? It would sound way better without rear speakers.

OP the stock speakers will only handle about 20- MAYBE 30 watts. Your new aftermarket head unit will make them sound much better. I would save your money buy a nice head unit run that with the stock speakers for a while. Than buy the new speakers and than the amp "both at once" aftermarket speakers will need a lot more power than your stock ones.

It would make a huge difference! Get a 4 channel and run you fronts and bridge the rear channels and put in a inexpensive subwoofer. you could this for under 400 bucks. Somewhere on this site I posted a schematic to build a line level converter that will work with BOSE factory head unit. It would cost you 10 dollars in parts to build. Just search on this site and you will find it.

he doesn't even have tho bose. for a base you just need a 2 channel or a 4 if you want to add a sub later and make sure it has speaker level inputs if you are dead set on keeping the factory headunit then you just have to cut the speaker wires coming out of the back of the deck run them to the speaker level input on the amp, and run wires from the amp to the speakers. the base speakers aren't much though and you will probably need to upgrade them to make full use of w/e amp you buy. I suggest just getting a new headunit for now that has 20w x 4 RMs as that will be enought to drive the stock speakers. they make plug and play harness adapters for the car and installing a new deck with them is easy if it's a double din.

Thanks everyone for the help. I didn't want to change the headunit becuase I like the clean look of the stock one - normal double dins look blocky and don't have the cash for a nice DVD unit yet. I'll update the thread when I purchase my audio equipment a week from now.
