JL stealth box update?
Its obviously all over their website that the next stealthbox under development for them is for our car. Seems like it should be out soon. I am going to call them tomorrow and get details as to what sub is included and what the setup and price will be. In the meantime......
Has anyone already done this or does anyone think they have a reasonable idea as to what the setup for our car "might be" Thanks guys and gals |
When you get a price do not fall to the floor they always over price their stuff and your going to pay for it. Me I would rather go with another company than spend it on a name like JL. Just my .02

The Zenclosure is a better box with more flexibility. I was dissapointed that they didnt do something cool using the 13TW5 in an in-floor type enclosure like mine. The 13TW5 is perfect for this car. I have mine turned way down and it adds a nice bottom end without drowning out my fronts. In a down firing enclosure it adds lots of tactile feel through the car so it doesent have to be loud to get the full effect. I perfected the transfer function by having it vent at the very back of the car firing straight up against the rear hatch window. The result is true audiophile quality bass that cannot be localized in the car. Its sounds like it eminates from everywhere. When I play DVD audio, its an amazing experience!! |
X2 for the z enclosure
|
I called today and the box has two 10w3 v2 and it is 899.99...lolololololololl
Zenclosures business should go up when that thing comes out. Thats mad expensive. Ridiculously expensive!!!!! They lost my business for that. Looks like im going with a zenclosures and one of their 10's or 12's |
^^ LOL Told you JL is overpriced no matter what your buying from them.

Consider the price of most JL stuff (not sure about stealthbox) is an MSRP and local dealers will most likely be able to give you a much better deal.

Please do, I am interested in your box.

+1 for design and measurements!
|
I heard the box will cost $949.99 from JL Audio. I love JL Audio, but not that much. I have one 10W3 that looks good and it only cost $150. It's not the best out there but it sure does hit like hell!

Saw this on JL's Facebook page,
Leaving Facebook... | Facebook Just slap the Zenclosure box in there for a little over $100 + a JL 12W6v2 for $375 online, and for half the $ you will get kicked in the azz with bass:happydance: or as another great option, WickedCas's new sparetire design with the 13" JL slimline sub. http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/1...e-sub-box.html You still have loads of trunk space and a 100% clear view out the window http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...Install008.jpg |

I will see if I can get it drawn up today for you guys. I have been really busy with work so slow days when I can goof off are far and few between.
For Audiophile sound I do highly recommend a parametric EQ so you can further attenuate the mid bass from the sub. The EQ actually tunes the front chamber of this enclosure which in this case is the boundary between the front of the subwoofer and the trunk floor which is approximately .5 cu ft so essentially its an 4th order bandpass enclosure with a vent instead of a port. I cut all frequencys above 60Hz with the EQ and my crossover which is cut at 60Hz/24db so the cut off is sharp with no overlap. Note! This is not conventional practice but after hours of trial and error this works best in this application due to the enclosure design and maximizing its output and cone control! I am running over 500wrms to the sub and I have never bottomed out the driver. Just make sure your fronts mains are capable of playing down to 60Hz and use LOTs of power (100 to 150 wrms or more) if you want that strong up-front bass. I also used the EQ to boost the midbass of my fronts. The result is like having 8 " full range woofers in your doors! and Awesome SQ! Friends have no idea I have a subwoofer, just killer mains until I tell them. |

Here is scale drawing of my subwoofer enclosure with the measurements. As you can see it a bit challenging due to all of the angle cuts but definitly doable if you have some good woodworking tools.
A good car audio shop can build this from the drawing if you want it professionaly. You can also omit the plexiglass window in the enclosure to simplify it. They guy who built mine just did it and he custom painted it inside and added some LED strip lighting to backlight the TW5 which I think looks pretty cool and unique. It amazes me how deep this flat sub will play in such a small amount of space! I highly recommend the 13TW5 as it delivers wicked tight bass with tons of impact! Make sure you at least deaden the trunk area with sound deadning or it will rattle. Since it fires directly into the floor you feel bass up through the seat and its awesome! I does sound waaay different than a direct radiating sub and you really have to tune it to tame it down. Its a true subwoofer, you cant really hear it or localize it but you sure feel it! |

Nice looking but a little pricey.
|
Does not look stealthy at all. and really not that different than the zenclosures one. save yourself 800 dollars and get that instead.
|
I would like to see them in the corners back by the tail lights.
|
i think it looks better than the zenclosures box. ehhh
my dog will love this when hes riding in the back! |

The price for the JL box is pretty high. I purchased retail (should've got it used) a Stealthbox for our del Sol. The fit was damn phenomenal, and with only two 8" woofs, the sound was the same. They had ported the enclosure, and while I prefer sealed, underdamped boxes, the Sol Stealthbox sounded awesome; tight, hard-hitting, tuneful, with no overhang.
The 370Z's Stealthbox is sealed, so unfortunately, it seems you're getting the exact same product as Zenclosures. Anyone purchase a JL box yet? |
What amplifier you are using? can use jl 500 or 1000
|
I got the wicked Cas corner box a few months back with the w6 and couldnt be happier.. Curious as to why this is not a popular option?
|
^i'm guessing it doesn't look as "powerful" as the zenclosures. just a thought...
Did you install your audio setup yourself? I want to do it but I'm afraid I'll mess something up haha |

The Cas box is a corner box and is mainly hidden during driving which I like. I didnt want to see a big box back there.. just my 2 cents. The sound out of it is amazing. |

Just had a local shop create a corner box for me for only $300 and it came out great. I have a JL 10W3V3-2 powered by the Hertz HDP5 and it sounds great. Love the corner box look and sound
|
^damn that looks legit! I think i'm going to shop around for mine...

Also added the Kenwood Excelon DNN990HD head unit. It's a pretty crazy head unit as far as its capabilities. |
