Rearview Camera and DVD

Has anyone tried the navtool for their Z at navtool.com? They claim it could bypass the video signal and turn rearview camera on when in reverse.

Just checked out the site looks good I've been waiting for something that would do both back-up and DVD

I've looked at it but 90% of them note but dont directly say; you need to flip a toggle to get reverse to come on.

This is also being discussed on this thread too
ipod Interface and Reverse camera interface

Interestingly enough, one of the guys posting on it is saying all he did was plug in a pioneer camera to the Nissan nav unit and it works fine. I've asked for more details. Can it really be that easy?

Still waiting to pull the trigger, I bought a camera though and I'm going to mount it in that little square cutout above the fog lamp. i need to call navtool to ask questions before I buy it. If I end up going that route, I'll put up a DIY on this thread. BTW, its the cheapest route I've come across so far. (navtool $350, camera $59) for a total of $409.

The toggle switch is for the extra video input to play video while driving, there should be a wire that hooks up inline with the reverse tail lamp to power the bypass so it automatically turns on when in reverse.

Caneman88, I just did a test run with the NavTool and it works perfectly, I'll post pics after I solder the wires. There's a toggle switch for a second video input (ie, dvd player, game console) so my passenger can play video games or watch dvds while i'm driving because I would NEVER take my eyes off the road to watch a movie let alone play a video game, lol. If you want, you can hook up a toggle switch to the rearview cam so you can turn that on while you drive. Keep an eye out for my DIY.

Sounds great where did you mount the toggle and it would be great to see some pics and how is the quality of the DVD output to the Nav screen

Thanks for the update

I just put up a DIY with the pics, I did however forget to take a pic of the toggle, it's a very tiny toggle switch that I mounted on the right side of the center console so that I can easily flip the toggle, you can barely see it.
