Looking for feedback from LIFETIME Sirius users
Yup.. since I'm paying $13/month + some small change for Royalty fee, I've been thinking about just getting the lifetime package. I did read all the fine prints. Now my question to the lifetime users will be, " Do you pay ANY money monthly (i.e. any royalty fee or taxes etc)? or is it just the one time fee and that's it!
Thanks

I got my lifetime subscription back in 2004 and I've never paid anything for that account since. But the lifetime subscription is bound to that receiver. It costs a one-time fee of $70 to transfer the subscription if you change or upgrade your hardware.
The contract terms may have changed since 2004, but I would think that the terms would be similar and once you pay up front you don't have to pay fees or royalties. Last edited by Xander1281; 02-04-2010 at 09:46 AM. |

I did it last year, don't remember the price, but it is just a one time fee.

Yes, but at a certain point that lifetime fee pays for itself and you are getting it for "free." I would also doubt Sirius going out since they merged with XM and are doing a bit better now.

I just did a search last week on XM fees to get an idea what they cost and lots of the forum chatter indicated they had "one foot in the grave". Also, a lot of people claimed they were calling and getting 5 month subscriptions for $20 after talking to someone. And others said they had no problem getting XM to give them a year for $70. It would take a LOT of time to get your return on investment at those kinds of rates... Just saying...

I finally put in Sirius last month and I love it so far. Just paying the monthly fee for now.
Love the uncut Stern and Bubba shows. Sterns interview the other day with Pete the asian virgin had me laughing so hard that people driving by must have thought I was nuts. 199$ lifetime sounded like a sweet deal, congrats

Have a home receiver with a lifetime subscription. Love it and never have to worry about paying for it.

Analysts don't believe they will last because they haven't increased customer base in the last year, they have $3B in debt and don't really have the means to pay it back. They came very close to filling for Chapter 11 bankruptcy back in Feburary before managing to get a last minute loan to make the payment on their other loans. They can't survive this practice forever, maybe they'll get a government bail-out in the end. |

Dont worry about them going out... Garmin has a HUGE stake in them staying around.
The Aviation side of XM is huge and Garmin is the largest supplier of XM based weather/Radio GPS units. It's 60 bucks a month just for my XM weather in my plane and I would'nt fly anywhere far without it.. We all might be paying Garmin for our satelite radio each month one day. |

But why are they there not a complaint
I don't think I'm keeping my XM subscription in the Z. I'll use my mp3 player and listen to exactly what I want.
