2018 Bose non-nav upgrade questions

I have a 2018 sport with bose. No nav.

I have a brainiac kit and am planning to go brainiac -> spdif -> jl audio amp.

I have heard about bose wiring causing issues to some people?

Is that just for bose with nav?

or am i going to have issues upgrading my system as well?

Thanks

Not a contribution, but I love the brainiac and I have a bunch of JL stuff, so I am subbed.

My buddy recently tried to upgrade his Bose/no-Nav unit to an aftermarket unit. Yes, he did have issues. In the end he had to bring it to a professional to have the wiring sorted. Something to do with the Bose amp not playing nice. Don’t have more details than that.

you need a signal limiter (something like that) to lower the power output of the aftermarket head unit.
but the wiring is very straight-forward.
If I can do it, anyone can do it.

No signal limiter necessary. Just get the proper wiring harness and it'll use the preamps of your existing head unit. Make sure you have 4v or above preamps or the quality will suffer. Wiring was simple, steering wheel controls were more of a pain, but still not anywhere near as hard as some of the newer cars.

as i mentioned in my post, i'm going to be feeding my JL audio amp via SPDIF from the brainiac android tablet, so not sure what need i have for a signal limiter or the wiring harness.

I was more asking if removing the stereo and all the bose speakers/amps will cause any problems.

Sorry, got off topic - the audio components are relatively dumb and didn't interface with the canbus in a way that would cause conflict. You should be good removing everything.

I have a 2016 Nismo/Bose/Nav.... i don't think the nav matters? That being said I replaced the front/rear/sub speakers and ran all new wiring (keeping the stock head unit), all connected to a JL VX1000/5i and have had no issues, also in case it is not obvious, deleted the factory amp and sub in the trunk with no issue.

here is my final install post:
http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...ml#post4007424

one thing to note that i just realized (as i went through many amps in testing.....) is that #4 is wrong so #4 should be:
JL Audio VX1000/5i - 5-channel car amplifier with digital signal processing — 75 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms + 600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms
and not: Amplifier - JL Audio RD900/5 - 5-channel car amplifier — 75 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms + 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms

hope this helps....

We may deal with this job next on my friend's new 2018 370z project. The previous owner's son installed a wiring harness but couldn't make it work. We'll just finish installing the rotors and fuel wheels on the truck this weekend before we can take her in and see.
